Re: Miami Heat Regular Season Thread - Part 1 - Can You Feel It?
The more I think about it the more I think Riley goes all in now. The chances of signing Giannis in 2021 are slim to none. Teams with better chances at signing him plus better for Giannis is Warriors, Mavs. Jimmy will be too old by then. As opposed to signing with perfect fit Curry/Klay or the much younger duo Luka/KP.
Signing Giannis is a pipe dream, almost as bad as thinking we had a shot at KD with an aging Wade. Not gonna happen imo. Which is why I think Riley goes for it now before the next super team is formed and we are all left in the dust.
Curry Klay Green Giannis is literally game over
Luka KP Giannis is also too much to handle.
Giannis Jimmy is not a great fit, no shooting, and age difference too big.
Giannis to Heat is a miracle pipe dream. And we are never going to have higher value on our guys than we do right now.
Right now Nunn, Herro, Bam, DJJ, DRob all have their value through the roof. NOW is the time to cash in.

This is the question I have. If Beal is available at the deadline, then he’s a great pick-up, but he’ll be expensive and the place we need to upgrade most is the post.
Love could help, and if he mostly just costs our chit contracts, then it’s fine. But I wouldn’t give any real assets for him.
LMA is similar, and doesn’t hurt the 2021 dream, so he could work. If there’s a way to get him and Jrue without gutting the assets then we could still have a good thing to sell in 2021. But I question how much closer that gets us to being a contender this year.
The other thing is culture: whoever we bring in needs to fit the culture that the FO has worked to build over the past few years. Jrue fits this, and I believe Beal does as well, but again the post is where we need help - and we need to preserve the spacing that Meyers/KO help create for Jimmy/Bam.
TLDR: I think you could be right, but who is the target? Who fits our needs and team culture?

Bradley Beal is a star, and those type of level of players you gut the roster for. Even if it cripples this season. You just fill in those holes in the off season. You can not get attached to role players and let that keep you from getting stars. Stars are always 1st priority. Look at the Lakers, the fans tried to hold on to their young players. I got backlash when I told laker fans those young guys are all trade chips now. Don't see Laker fans crying about those young players now.

Just how old do you think Jimmy Butler is? 35?
Steph is 31 Klay is 29 Jimmy Butler is 30 years old. The Warriors are also already capped out for 2021 by a significant margin they aren’t players in this.
You also forgot that Drob, Bam, Herro, Nunn, and Winslow can all be carried on the roster with the addition of Giannis and locked up long term, with only their cap holds counting while we spend on Giannis. We will also have the cap space to sign an solid additional complimentary piece alongside that core, potentially in the 15 to 20 million range, additionally we will be able to use the MLE on another player.
So take our current roster, add Giannis, age Butler to 32 but give players like Drob, Winslow, Herro, Bam, and Nunn an additional 2 years of development. Seems like that’s a pretty overpowered team with a proven front office and coaching staff.

Giannis? With what money?
Dallas. I almost fell on my head and said it wouldn't work lol. Could you imagine a Luka/Giannis p&r? Or doing that double drag offense that Boston does, but with Luka/Giannis/KP? You couldn't guard that play.
Double drag screen;

You'd want to allot 30% of your cap to Bradley Beal? How's that working out for the Wizards? How has it worked out for the Wizards?
Also, since you're using the Lakers as an example, do you have Beal on the same level as Anthony Davis? Does anyone?
You don't gut your team for Bradley Beal. If you can add him to your team, a team that needs outside shooting, then you do it if you've got the expendable assets to do it. Everyone on Miami can shoot the rock. Swapping what we're really good at to get a player who does the exact same things, while destroying everything that works to become the next Washington Wizards seems like a pretty poor return.

That was your response... Really. Come up with a worse comparison than Anthony Davis and Bradley Beal. Please.

There's no second scenario to a team with LeBron James. Can say the same about Steph/Harden too
Type of star this team is looking for just isn't there. Might change this summer or at deadline

That the only logical response that can be made. The fact you comparing Wiz ability to build a roster to the Heat, is insane. You been a Heat fan long enough to know that is blasphemy. You should be ashamed of yourself DOM.

Why is Bradley Beal even a topic of discussion? That ship has sailed the moment he signed his extension. He's a Wizard for the foreseeable future, and that's fine by me.

No, it was the typical Twix knows best scenario. I think it's safe to say that the Heat aren't trading the house for Beal. That doesn't sound like a winning teams MO. Got a top four record with great chemistry and decide to blow it up. Ashamed, lol.
