That's embarrassing for the Knicks. How many first-round picks do they have? Portis, Randle, Barrett, Knox, Dennis Smith Jr., Ntikilkina, Elfrid Payton. I have to give Brooks credit for that team just playing hard. Maybe it's because these guys are mostly G-Leaguers.
I just don't get why Gary Payton II hasn't been in the NBA. Is it because they confuse him with his brother Gary Payton Jr.? Maybe he's a late bloomer at 27 but here, I think he'll get some time at the 1 and 2. Hopefully, they'll find a taker for IT, but I doubt it. You know Brooks will start him once he returns after his suspension.

What amazes me more than Payton's stat line is the fact that Brooks let him play 34 minutes!
Can we just cut Isaiah Thomas now?

Maybe that's why we haven't signed that Pf/C yet we are waiting to see if we can cut IT?

Good to win. I thought we were about to blow it.
GP2 is a keeper.
Beal...I get that we have to put the ball in our best players hands. But, he has to make better decisions.

As I posted earlier, I do not understand why GPII has found it tough to stick in the league. He was tremendous last year in the couple of games he played for us.
Great game from Troy. Ditto Payton. Excellent game from Pasecniks too. Ish & Mathews as well.
And... an absolutely terrible, dysfunctional game from Bradley Beal, who is driving me completely crazy. The last 5 minutes of the game, he dribbled into the front court & did nothing but look for the best of the bad shots available to him. He didn't look for his teammates -- hell, he didn't look AT his teammates. Beal had by far the worst game of any Wizard tonight -- by a lot.

I think Brad will settle down after the all Star games he's trying too hard. That's either because he's trying to make the allstar team or he's thinking if I don't go ham we get blown out by 50 and ya know what it is what it is Brad let it be and play good ball.
Payton earned a contract from us tonight. And imo cut it or trade him so a sandwich. Ian played well too damn bad he's getting paid 15 mill and not 5. AP looks like he might be a keeper too. I like us looking at young guys. Ish is looking like a good sign more and more every day. Cut IT to sign Johnathan Williams and move on

Guys, our situation could be worse
I'm actually glad to watch our young guys get meaningful minutes this year. Still need defense on the wing, at C, and PG to be competitive in the East.

There is nothing bad about our situation. They are not going to win many games, make the playoffs if so why get spanked by Milwaukee first round. Probably get a top 7 pick, but I don't see whats so special about the up coming draft. Tank mentality is like a cancer, not a good thing. The available players don't think so why should we. These guys play their ass off while being less talented, i'm good with this.

Jeff Green just got waived by Utah.
Should we try and grab him? We certainly need depth at forward. Or is that only going to interfere with Hachimura's development?

Johnathan Williams seems to be the one we are going after . So no reason to go after Jeff green.

I thought Beal played his worst game as a Wizards in that collapse against the Bulls, but he took stupid to a whole new level with his 4th quarter shot hunting and flat out refusal to let go of the damn ball in this one.
Ludicrous performance, as if he was trying to throw the game on purpose.
Impressive outing by TBJ and GP2 doing his thing with a great performance to back up Ish Smith.
Btw, what's up with Bertans leading the team in techs from the bench
, this is the 2nd one I recall and this time he's in street clothes...

Re: Game 29: Washington Wizards (8-20) @ New York Knick’s (7-23) - 7:00 PM ET
We won with a bunch of backups, G Leaguers and Beal playing terribly. Congrats to TBJ (the star of the game) and Payton for terrific performances. And thanks to Bobby Portis for his pathetic defense. AP owes him a lunch. Even with his cheap shots, Portis couldn't handle AP. That was a fun game - even with Beal trying to lose it. I can live with him missing shots, but not with him whining about not getting calls when the Knicks are running 5 on 4 in transition. Yeah, he didn't get some calls, but that's the way the game was being officiated - nobody was getting calls. Thing is - you need to adjust to the officiating. Brooks or one of the assistants needs to have a long talk with Beal. TBJ was having a great game; why didn't Beal defer more to him in the 4th quarter - when they were playing together?

Wow, the Knicks are horrifically bad.
Tommy, please don’t sleepwalk past the opportunity to cut IT and upgrade at the PG position with GPII. Also, AP has certainly earned a position as 3rd C when Ian is gone.

Please, just say no. Jeff is not a good player. He never was.
To be more specific: in every box score number but one, Jeff is an above average NBA 4. Unfortunately, he is such a very very bad rebounder that the result, overall, leaves him as a way below average 4.
An average 4 gets almost 50% more defensive rebounds than Jeff. Worse yet, an average 4 gets almost 3 times as many offensive rebounds as Jeff.
Jeff is a great guy it seems: hire him as a coach if you like. But... don't use a roster spot on him. Especially given that he's at the end of his career. We're already wasting roster spots on C.J. Miles & IT. We can't have 25% of our roster spots taken up by corpses.

Honestly... If the team is ever playing without energy/defense, Brooks should play a lineup of:
Payton - Brown - Bonga - Bertans - Mahinmi
Tell Bertans to shoot every time down the floor or Brown if need be. Every other shot should be a putback or cutter.
Then lock down on defense.
Defensive Chaos and 30 ft 3's....lol

I'd like to see Jeff Green picked up by some team. He's too classy a guy to go out this way.
I don't think we need depth in the front court with Bryant, Mahinmi, Wagner, Rui, Bertans, and hopefully keeping AP up.
Green could help at SF, especially if TBjr running the point, and seeing less of IT.
Green fits well with the team profile - good offense with poor defense and rebounding. Obviously, this a good idea only for this year (tanking aside) to get the most wins. I hope we start addressing our weaknesses with players that are good at defense and rebounding, rather than thinking we can deal with it in other ways.

Green's a nice guy, but no. I don't want him as a player, because Utah cut him for a reason - he probably lost a step, and he's what - 33?, and I don't want him for a coach, because he's mainly coasted on his underrated athletic ability - tbh, he's a lazy pick-setter, defender, and rebounder.

I don't really disagree. His FG% this year is down so maybe he has lost a step.
We still could use help this year at SF. I wish we had signed someone like the defensive minded Hollis-Jefferson rather than the higher paid CJ Miles.
