Did you look at the anatomy of the nerves?

More than likely, there is permanent nerve damage related to the original massive injury.
The question is ‘how tolerable are the sensory or motor consequences of the damage”.

The cortisone derivative injected reduces any inflammation that might also be present.
It does not fix the nerve damage.

Why are you taling like if I were replying to you? as the message says in the beginning "I don't know if this is his case". We still don't know about what is happening, it's pure speculation, we will see.

Because what you wrote makes absolutely no sense whatsoever & you have no medical background.
Because, even though I am not an orthopedist, I have been practicing medicine for a long time & I provided very recent literature supporting my informed, educated speculation.

Stevens has no **** idea what he is talking about. He is either really stupid medically speaking or trying to blow smoke.

This was a MASSiVE injury leading to MAJOR reconstructive surgery of the ankle. Multiple major nerves MUST have been damaged. GH will probably be dealing with pain or paresthesias (& even some degree of weakness) in his L foot for the rest of his life. The questions are: Is the discomfort tolerable enough for him to play professional basketball? How disabling are the symptoms?

That first link is, er, unnerving.

If I were Gordon I'd be majorly bummed by the development. I hope he doesn't end up like McHale, living with chronic pain from his playing years. Somehow I don't see him going all Tom Brady and trying to play professionally until he is 45.

It depends on how discomforting the pain is & how often it flares.
It it is for the most part tolerable & the flares are infrequent, hopefully he can productively play out his career.
The GH we saw for 11 games before the hand injury was freaking awesome!

Sadly I don't know it this is good or bad.. that Hayward can play. Cortisone shots? Not a Doctor like ex - but those things aren't good for you. They just damage your body such that it's not responding to pain as much..

Chronic neuropathic pain consequent to permanent nerve damage consequent to a massive fracture-dislocation requiring ORIF.

And this is pretty much the foundation of the trade Hayward argument comes from.

We have a young core of Brown and Tatum who are 23 years or younger.

Hayward... his body obviously isn't here to last for the long term and he'll be 30 by the end of the season.

If, in a historically light trade market, we can use Hayward to get a kings ransom that can be assets to support our young core of Brown and Tatum (and potentially Walker depending on the speed of the Jays development). Then we should do it.

By no means do we have to trade Hayward, but we're really playing with fire here where we coudl go from an all-star level (and our best) player in the rotation to absolutely nothing quickly.

Again maybe there isn't a trade for him, and I think when he's on the court he's our best player.

But if we in a year when no one is available in free agency and the road to the title is "wide open" could get a team to trade us say their 2023 and 2024 first rounders unprotected. Then I say you do it.

It would shut our window for this season, but we're sitting on at least 9 years of Brown and Tatum. And just because guys like KAT and such aren't free now, doesn't mean our next shot to get a big piece won't be open in 2 years or so. I could see Portland going all in, the Spurs already made that PATHETIC trade for Derozen and I could easily see Pop giving away the future he won't be around for just like he did with the Kawhi trade, the Thunder could be dumb enough to do it. I think the Timberwolves are perpetually desperate and could even give away a very similar to the Nets package to us.

I'm sure DAL would but their future is secure so they're not good trade bait for this kind of exporting the tank to a short sighted team trade.

Ugh. So, I had a viral sinus infection that led to a single viral eye infection. That then spread to a double viral eye infection. That then took almost 7 weeks to heal. It was the worst time of my life from a medical standpoint. And this is from someone who was hospitalized due to peptic ulcers. The second that air would make contact with my eyes, they would literally ooze uncontrollably. UNCONTROLLABLY. Lol. Like, for 4-5 minutes straight. Couldn’t see at all. This was when walking. Had I been running up and down a basketball court, well I just couldn’t have. The pain, itching and discomfort for the entire 7 weeks was just awful. I’m glad Marcus has better docs than I had. Cause it seems like he’s healed quickly comparatively.
