Sounds like they're going to slide Exum into Clarkson's role off the bench to start.

Man, we sure should just get rid of Sexton already and hand the reins over to Garland already. Obviously the future for us.

Hand the reins over to Exum. He is a top 5 draft pic who has never been given a chance. He just had an awesome first game for you guys.

Rebuilding is never turn key when drafting one and dones you intend to develop like Sexton.
He is better at basketball than Garland getting into everyone's space defensively and getting buckets within the flow of the offense.
Garland just dribbles around or forces tough to catch out of time passes making it difficult for his teammates to establish any rhythm. Yes Garland has a really high bbiq but doesn't know how to use it and isn't strong enough too force it either.
Kpj is the bright spot and clearly deserves Garlands starting gig, but the org is content to let him fill the JC void off the bench
And clearly are still hung up on a Garland Sexton pairing . Most like to blame Sexton and say Garland is better etc.. yet he has done nothing as a rookie to earn it and probably won't

I would love for them to trot out Sexton/KPJ/Osman/Love/TT as the starting line-up next game with Garland off the bench to try and run the second unit.

I get you're excited but 'awesome' is a massive overstatement.
He had plenty of chances in Utah to play and looker much more 'awesome' than today. He just can't stay healthy.
I'd be concerned as Cavs' front office with the two young guards, both with narrow vision and hogging tendencies.

Proof will be when you see Dante’s numbers come seasons end. Coach has said Dante could see up to 30 minutes per game taking over Clarkson’s role. If that’s the case it is likely Dante will average around 15 ppg for the Cavs and you’ll be surprised at his good defensive ability. The kid is amazingly only 24 years old.

I think it's more likely not to happen that way...they are for what it's worth so early in the rebuilding process they have to be careful not to play too well this soon

No one is building an entire team around someone with that type of injury history.nurseryc wrote:Revenged25 wrote:Man, we sure should just get rid of Sexton already and hand the reins over to Garland already. Obviously the future for us.

I think Sexton and KPJ will be an awful pairing as a starting back court. You can't start two guys who rarely pass. If Sexton is a long term starter, then it will be next to a guy like Exum.Revenged25 wrote:Stillwater wrote:Rebuilding is never turn key when drafting one and dones you intend to develop like Sexton.

I think Sexton/Exum and Garland/KPJ are the guys who play alongside one another long term. For now, I'd start the guys with more experience.

Sexton KPJ is a much better defensive back court than Sexton Garland and with Exum being probably the best defender him paired with Garland would make sense this season imo.
Garland has probably been in the fire too long though by now to raise flags by demoting him from the starting lineup but his minutes will more likely be reduced next to Sexton if he continues to play better next to KPJ.
I think if we can get Windler going soon Sexton Exum Windler Nance and Henson would destroy most teams 2nd units

Re: Game 31: Cleveland Cavaliers (9-21) @ Boston Celtics (21-7) - 4:00 PM ET
I don't know how you run any type of structured offense with a Sexton KPJ back court. It's just two free styling non passers. Even if the Cavs trade Love, at some point, you need offensive production from a third guy in the starting unit or you'll be a really easy team to defend. You can't get meaningful offensive production from a third player if neither guard makes an effort to get that player the ball.Stillwater wrote:jbk1234 wrote:I think Sexton and KPJ will be an awful pairing as a starting back court. Also while KPJ's defense is arguably better than Garland's, it's not good. Exum is the best defensive guard by a pretty wide margin.
