Re: Trade Thread (TRADE WARS EPISODE V: The Empire Strikes Back)
Ah I forgot about Hayward, who has a $34 million player option next year.
They would probably try to trade him as an expiring, because no way they extend him now, unless the rest of this season and next season, he becomes all-NBA level player.
That would be a lot of money on both forwards, Kemba, and SG.
I don't think they'd keep Hayward unless he gives a steep discount. I think Tatum and Brown have been putting up points since Hayward got injured.

curious why you think a trade for Bol would be a home run? I fear that his body will never hold up to the NBA rigors while Paschall has shown signs of being able to bang with the big boys and contribute right off the bat.

imma huge Bol guy, I think he can be really good in the NBA if his body can hold up
and I realize that's a big if, but that's why it's a home run move, because he's stupid good if he can stay on the court.

I haven't watched Evans at a since he was injured (so only first few games) but I loved his full court press a lot. If he could just be that wing who bothers opposing teams point guards for a while and can hit threes and play solid defense next season I'm all for it.
As for Poole -- Deeply hoping he uses this season as a a way to learn his game and how to fit in. Kerr needs to see if this guy can be just a Gunner for us next season off the bench if anything -- JR Smith/Nick Young mold. Just come in and shoot/make jumpers and take pressure off the stars.

Evans i've pretty much given up on. That's not to say i couldn't be wrong - i mean, i thought Bowman was a waste of a 2-way contract and thought Spellman was terrible too, and both have proven at minimum to be worthy of where they are at.
Evans though... man, he just looks so lost offensively. And his defense, which was billed as his calling card is more "adequate" than "good". I prefer Bowman's on the ball defense to Evans'. I still hope the kid can get it together, (he's guaranteed the rest of this season and next) but I've given up hope.
Poole... just looks like a not very good shooter. His form looks fine to me, but the ball does not go into the hoop... which is kind of important at some point. He IS a good free throw shooter which gives me hope he'll be a good shooter at some point. I had hoped at some point he could be a JR Smith / Nick Young type player... but I really don't see it. I see an NBA athlete and mid-level collegiate talent. Hope i'm wrong. Hope he just needs to work with a sports psychologist and more practice time.

Bucks on a 70-win pace but Sixers beating them so far.
If they don't at least get to the Finals, there may be an opening for Giannis leaving.
Be ready to pounce if that happens.

he can leave regardless. rather, he could likely leave ala kawhi after winning a chip in milwakee with less noise than without it.
of course if he leaves he must come to the bay

Miami, Toronto and other teams will be after him and they will have cap space.

Exactly. I've never understood how Giannis could come here. We're capped out through 2022 at the least.

Giannis is an unrealistic scenario at this point, we're gonna be way over the cap in 21, even without DLo's contract

It would have to mean the end of Draymond most likely. So DLo and Draymond in a package for Giannis.
Not gonna happen unless Giannis forces his way here. Not gonna happen

good info! I really haven't been able to watch much this season at all. Stinks to see talent not able to develop at the NBA level, but also shows how elite NBA players need to be.

Warriors should trade everyone they can get something for really
Move out, WCS, GR3, Burks, Looney.... try to get under the tax, open roster spots for Lee-Bowman, get a few 2nd round picks

Re: Trade Thread (TRADE WARS EPISODE V: The Empire Strikes Back)
I mentioned awhile ago at the Thunder board that I thought there was some possibility that the Warriors might be another, less obvious team that could be interested in a multiple team deal that moved Russell somewhere (perhaps to Minnesota) in exchange for Gallinari (and his Bird Rights) and other stuff (perhaps Covington, but that is just one possibility). Conceptually do you think they would have any interest in considering that? I assume they could get Gallinari to stay at the right number and that he would fit style of play / another contention try next year (and perhaps beyond). Let me know what you think. Thanks.

There's three problems with a Gallo to GS deal.
First, while his Bird rights have some value to a team that will be over the cap, he has more win-now value from being a good player this season (and GS doesn't care about that). Second, he's a PF now, so his on-court fit with Draymond is questionable. Finally he's making almost as much as Russell this year, so in a Russell deal GS can't take back much more salary. That means that it couldn't really be Gallo + another vet - even Covington makes too much to work.

Re: Trade Thread (TRADE WARS EPISODE V: The Empire Strikes Back)
Fit with Green is debatable / unproven but team results with Green at C last season were vastly better in 82games.com estimates than at PF (plus 17 / 100 possessions compared to plus 3).
Makes somewhat below $5 mil less than Russell. I thought it was closer to $8 mil. But throw in a deep bench player or two (or 3-4, you have plenty of expendables and no immediate need to backfill above the minimum) and you can get it back to $8 mil or more. Easier to deal with salary issue in a 3-4 team deal. Covington might be a reach too far (he also makes a bit more than I thought and I recognize the hardcap) but he is just one possibility I saw mentioned here. If you got Gallinari, Covington might not be exactly who else you'd want.
Are the Warriors going to get a great deal for Russell? I don't think so. Are they going to get a better player than Gallinari? I kinda doubt it.
But thanks for the reply.

Re: Trade Thread (TRADE WARS EPISODE V: The Empire Strikes Back)
Gallinari 21, and Covington at 11......DLo 27, and Evans 2......I think a 3 million dollar difference would work in a trade. Doesn't have to be exact dollar for dollar.
And even if Gallon is playing PF, it doesn't matter next to Draymond because Drains guards 3, 4, and 5. Gallo can guard 3 and 4. Convington can guard 3 and 4. Also switch out on 2s.
Fit isn't a problem at all. Gallo's injury history is a problem.
Not saying I'm a proponent of that deal, but the money can work.

Re: Trade Thread (TRADE WARS EPISODE V: The Empire Strikes Back)
I'm thinking that a possible 3 way with Phoenix and Minnesota might go down at some point.
I can envision DLo and Town's going to Phoenix with Ayton going to Minny. We would have to get pieces obviously, but there might be some pieces in there that can help fill the small forward spot, and also we'd need a first rounder I there as well.
