Re: Patrick McCaw is not a NBA caliber player
Great game from McCaw last night but the burden is on him to prove he's productive over a period of time before anyone's opinion should change. Bad players have good games. All the data up to this point of his career has him as a bad player. Credit to him for playing a good game, but calling anyone out or flipping your stance after a single game is the indication that you really have no concept of sample size or how to evaluate a player.
Let's see if this continues. I personally don't believe so and think it was outlier but we'll let the games roll on and see.

I loved what Nurse did with involving McCaw more. Having him bring up the ball. He does have some good handle and runs the pick and roll well. Here's hoping there is more of this to come.

PM is still a backup (10-12th player on roster) level NBA player. Look at the average. One good game is just that. Look at Barfs 11-13 game start years ago. Please calm down on how bad he is or how good one game was. Peace

NN and other players have confidence in McCaw. I suspect he's been killing it in practice but trying to transfer that to real games where there's more pressure.
Remember we don't see everything that happens behind closed doors so if they have confidence in him to perform well then there's probably a reason for that.

He reached the pinnacle of his career in 1 (one!) season.
How else is he supposed to keep himself entertained?

So lets make a deal. If next game he plays well also, you can no longer call it a fluke game tonight since "fluke" cant strike consecutively? You will be then asked to respect McCaw as an impactful player on the team and you will be a man of your word and no longer trash his play. Deal?
Even a G league player can have a stretch of 2 NBA games. How about he plays well for the rest of the season ? Is he a charity case ?
you're just extending your time and using excuses for me not to call you out on being wrong. The worst thing that can happen to the person's ego is to realize that they are wrong and for them to admit it. How many consecutive games would a player have to play well in order for you to at least be wrong that there's "nothing positive" in him and that he's not G-Leaguer and at least qualified as serviceable? Lets not set the bar very high for this debate, because if he plays like he played today for the rest of the season he would be worth at least triple of his 4 million. How many games like today would he need to play this season ONLY to justify his 4 million dollar contract? 3? 4? 5? His average stats now appear as of someone who makes 4 million on NBA contract fairly. This game alone got his FG% up to an elite level of 45.5%. He's also 2nd best player on the team in steals and 5th in assists.
I'm not reading all that. For Pat McCaw? Sorry bruh it's not that serious.

Re: Patrick McCaw is not a NBA caliber player
I must say the last night's game from McCaw was unexpected.
Watching back the replays on Youtube, I must admit that McCaw's basketball IQ is higher than OG and Ibaka. He is more aware of who's around him and where his defenders are. He has shown quick decision to move the ball (swing to the wings and p&r's) and even quick layups.
He was cutting into the basket more and much more aggressive on scoring.
His handles is still weak, but at least he moves around more.
McCaw has game high 43 minutes!! His length is excellent at defending the shorter guards.

Couple things wrong with that.
First Is dude had a role on 2 championships in GSW, and was a part of rotation of another elite (and deep) team this year.
Second there is a reason he was starting. Coaching staff trusts him, cause he does all the little things right. And that is based on seeing him in a much larger sample size than any of us have
Third, it's about role. While this type of performance is unsustainable, the coaching staff used him in a different role to maximize his strengths. They put him on the ball far more than usual, to use him as a creator and passer to take advantage of the shooters (Lowry and FVV) and minimize his lack of spacing . Then he was getting buckets in transition and off great cuts off ball. Those are mostly sustainable ways of playing.

McCaw's quick, accurate passes in the offensive zone is really impressive. Makes me think that his Bball IQ and court vision is really high - part of the reason why Lowry and Nurse support him at point.

Maybe it's just me but I enjoyed McCaw's game even before last night. Doesn't force the issue. Always makes the 2nd pass. A friend of mine compared him to a guard's version of Gasol and I kind of agree.

Yes, I can see that. But like Gasol, McCaw needs to be more aggressive offensively - which is what he did last night. Looking forward to see how he does tonight and on Tuesday.
