Re: Trade Ideas Thread, 2019-20
The Wolves have had some good winning stretches over Towns’ career, but never put it all together. I don’t think Thibodeau was ever the right coach for him, or Wiggins - and they’ve had major roster turnover getting Butler and then losing him. The Butler Wolves would have been a playoff team if they’d been healthy more often.
What’s the difference right now, other than age, between Towns and Vucevic?

Nothing. They both don’t contribute to winning

Re: Trade Ideas Thread, 2019-20
Now i think its totally fair to question KAT’s overall player ranking and whether or not hes a winner and the depths of his crappy defense
But he is a straight up transcendent offensive talent. Minnesota has always been a mess and his second best teammate is andrew wiggins
I agree hes underachieved to this point. So did paul pierce. Until he didnt
I think hes the best center in the league easily. Hot take and feel free to hate it: philly would be better with him than embiid
Im not even advocating we trade for him. Ima homer. I like our guys
Is he top ten? Idk, but i think he is likelier to get there than tatum. And im high on tatum
Again, i think all of the above is super debatable but i think he is going to be special. Above 50%
Disclaimer: ima uk fan/grad/enthusiast/all that. Im biased

Look at the jump Jaylen Brown made from 22 to 23 years old. Brown is only going to get better.
Tatum at 23-24 years old is going to look nothing like Tatum at 21 years old. The fact that him and Brown could be all-stars now is gravy.
Dude you're preaching to the choir.

This made me wonder what portion of superstars were All-stars by their 4th season. My gut was is it's pretty high. Obviously, with 19 years olds coming in, it's going to be a little lower. But, I think the guys that take longer to blossom end up in that next tier - your Jimmy Butler level guys. But true superstars get their earlier. LeBron, Doncic, AD, KD, super early. Giannis, Harden were 4th season. Steph 5th, so he's the exception. That's gonna be the extent of my exhaustive research.
But it seems to be a top ten player, it would behoove you to be an all-star on your rookie contract.

It’s tough because how many of those players started on good teams? If your on on bad team when you start out like AD, Lebron, KD, Giannis etc. you have super high volume and can pretty much do whatever you want. Your learning curve possibly goes quicker.
Tatum and Brown don’t have that opportunity. Celtics have been competing ever since they entered the league.
Tatum or Brown would probably be averaging 30 points and 10 rebounds if they were on the Knicks and viewed as the 2nd coming of Michael Jordan in the media.

True. Harden's the only one you could reasonably say was held back a little, but even he got a lot of minutes as 6th man. But, at the same time, no matter how good a team you have, LeBron, AD, Doncic are getting a lot of minutes. KD probably as well, but he was so dang skinny, maybe not as much as the others.

Tatum and Brown have never been the #1 option on their team. Celtics have always had an IT, Irving or Kemba since they entered the league

Tatum and Brown would suck if they were on the Knicks. There is something about that organization that does that to players.

How about either Jarrett Allen or Nicolas Claxton from the Nets? Irving hates playing with young players (See what he did to Tatum and Brown). DeAndre Jordan now seems to be edging out Allen.

I mean, that's kinda the point right? At some point the true superstars grab the throne - usually early. It's actually why I was against the Kemba signing (wanted to gather assets using cap like MEM/LAC trades and hand Smart/Jays the keys with Hayward & some cheap vets to help).
And, don't get me wrong, I think Tatum's on track for that next tier player range (10-25). Brown the rung below that. But, I think we need a big leap to get either into the top 10 range. Entirely possible, but the clock's ticking.

I just need RWIII to be healthy so I can restore order to my brain.
Small part of me was hoping he'd be the starting center by seasons end.

Tatum is arguably the #1 option right now— he averages over a shot more per game than Kemba.

Oh man, I was a Claxton-stan in the draft thread - don't get me started again, lol.
Perfect kinda guy to roll the dice on with a lower pick and hope you get a Siakam/Giannis somehow.

If he demands out then a deal around hayward(expiring former allstar who can put up very good stats) romeo(lotto pick) robert williams (lottery talent) memphis pick (potential high top 10) bostons 2020 first and bucks 2020 first. No one comes close to that offer.

One of Tatum/Brown would be a minimum, even if he's asking out. Every team in the league would be throwing offers out. I'd draw the line at something like Tatum/Memphis pick/Bucks pick/R Williams/Langford/fillers....

I'd think the Warriors would offer up their first(top5)/Russell, Suns would offer up Ayton plus, N.O. anything outside Zion(Ingram/Ball), etc.... I think there be a lot of teams would better headliners in a deal. I don't see why Minny would want Gordon, he prob opts out and walks at the end of the season.
