Re: The Cousins injury thread
For that injury I think the time line is five to six months, it happened in September so I’m guessing March. The thing is that with KD’s injury every body became overcautious and said might as well pack it in for the entire season. So chances are that he will be ready to come back late March but he may sit all together. Who knows.

Would you risk team chemistry to bring him back?

He did his ACL in mid August and an ACL is normally 6-9 months.
That's not counting the time to get up to professional basketball fitness

Re: The Cousins injury thread
He's definitely going to be available by late March at most, I believe. Whether we choose to use him or not it's up for debate.
We should be firmly ahead by then in the standings, load management is a must. So I don't see why we should't give him some decent burn to gauge at least what he can do, if he's capable of giving us something for the playoffs or not.

Re: The Cousins injury thread
I'm really convinced he will be a key player in our playoff rotation. We can really use his post scoring/pick and pop shooting in the second unit, I think he will be able to average something like 14/6 on 48/35/80 shoting.

Re: The Cousins injury thread
He would be back to full-contact in mid-May. If things go well and the Lakers get that far, it would be way too late (and pointless) to try and plug him in.
I think they are keeping him around so that next season they can offer him a 1 year min contract and hope that he plays at that 14/6 level with solid 3pt shooting. He's got too much natural talent to just fall off the map due to injury, and he looked pretty good in the summer before he had that unfortunate injury. If Dwight could rejuvenate his career, Cousins should have no problem doing so. Also, keeping him around and and paying him to rehab looks very good for the organization.
I expect him back next season, and I expect him to be very productive.

Re: The Cousins injury thread
I think he's breaking down slowly. One lower body injury leading to another. He's never been the most "fit" guy to start with. I think anything close to his previous production (which was as a primary option) is a stretch... even on a per minute basis. I hope he gets a better offer over the summer quite frankly.

Considering he barely got the vet min last off-season, there's no he'll get anything more next off-season.

Let's hope we spend out "big guy" money on Howard and McGee then...

i dont understand this strategy, whether we hold him or not, he can be offered a 1 year contract by anyone next year, correct? he can be picked off from us next year , or we can offer him and get him back (if we use him to trade now)

Re: The Cousins injury thread
If he isn't ready, and he shouldn't be, then we should sit him
Guys his injuries aren't a joke
Achilles, then quad (and rushed it back), and then torn acl.
ACL injuries should really be a year, especially for a big. And even then, they aren't even fully ready
1.5-2 years for these guys is what they really need
We should have a handshake deal with him already for him to come back on the minimum for 1 year, let him build his reputation, put up some #s, get back in shape, and then the next year he can hopefully get a long term deal elsewhere or we give him that if no other stars come here

The bolded is precisely why a handshake deal doesn't make much sense. There was literally no market for Cousins even after coming off a season in which she showed some flashes of his old self. Fast forward 1 year later with another significant injury, no one will offer more than the vet min.
I honestly think Cousins is simply being kept around due to his relationship with AD. After all this is the "do everything to keep AD in LA season."

Also this
I think he can be valuable next year, shouldn't rush him this year
Our C rotation is Dwight and Boogie, move Mcgee or have as a 3rd C for injury concerns, but he won't really play and takes up a spot

Re: The Cousins injury thread
I love Boogie!!
Does he have issues? Sure, but so do KD and Kyrie, but they're thin and weak, so it doesn't put anyone off. And Boogie's a way better team mate than the both of them combined.
For me, if Boogie's fully fit with more than 12-15 games left in the season, he starts in the playoffs on this team. Boogie plugs so many holes for this team, it shouldn't even be a question -
- We have top quality bigs on D, but nothing but AD on offense right now
- Great iso playmaker / driver - we don't have another driver except Lebron on the team right now
- 3 pt shooting - 2nd to Danny Green on this squad
- Quality big playmaking from the post - 2nd only to Jokic
- P&R with AD
- Post offense - 2nd only to Embiid
McGee and Dwight, as great as they've been, are zero to no threat on the offensive post, letting opposing bigs off the hook.
Boogie on the other hand can create havoc inside. His presence on the team, with Lebron, AD, Dwight/McGee, Kuz would literally force the opponents to not dare to go small. Just think of the foul trouble we could have opposing bigs in with those guys driving in / posting up for just the first half.
I believe the Clippers are the only real threat to us in the Playoffs. Harrel, Zubac, Green and Harkless couldn't hold a candle in that perfect storm of an old school ground and pound offense.
