He has a chance at DPOY. So maybe that will be his next ...oh well I am this.. thing to thow out there. Lol

No chance. Believe me. He’s overrated. If he’s DPOY caliber then we should be playing elite defense when Biid is off and Ben is on.

You guys need to have patience. Simmons will eventually start taking jump shots and 3s regularly in games. It may be this season, it may be next. When it happens we have the next Lebron. Until then we get a crappy unfinished version that tests our patience. We just have to ride it out as his potential is sky high

True that. What frustrates me is Ben even would defer when he’s being guarded by opponents PG.

Our team is focused on Biid. He’s already good.

What we need to do is build a stage for Ben. Something coaches like Bud did to make Milsap (even Giannis) looked good. SVG also did the same with D12.

We can start doing it by finding ways for Ben to attack opponents PG on the block.

Great coaches would create “favorable stage” for their performers to perform. Look at how Bud made Milsap or Giannis

We can say Ben should just post smaller guys, but that's not really a refined tool of his and we don't even know if it's something he embraces or even works on.

- free throws
- scoring off dribble in mid-range
- post scoring
- catch and shoot from three

I wish Ben would just pick something and come into a season having added it to his game. Thus far through four offseasons, he hasn't added anything.

That's been my concern with Ben since the beginning. He put up extremely gaudy stats at LSU in, basically, a non-PG role (which should be taken as a plus). However, when he was in half court situations, he was honestly incapable of finishing at the basket with his left hand. I'm not sure if I can find the stat, but it must have been 90+% of his takes at the basket were right handed. He has improved somewhat at this, but it's clear that his touch at the basket has not taken the next step.

Much like Lonzo Ball, I never considered Ben ever becoming a reasonable jump shooter, but I hoped he would be a willing shooter at some point. His lack of development in both regards were my nightmare scenario in drafting him. Luckily, his apathy as a defender didn't translate to the NBA.

Well it's begun. Without actually saying his name, Jo is clearly calling out Ben.

It'll only get louder if things continue to be frustrating. All eyes are on Ben. I really do hope he doesn't make the all star game. Seems like his teammates are getting sick of this. Once he notices that the fans and his peers are tired of his schtick, he might actually bring it.

That's great to hear. Embiid needs to take ownership of this organization. He needs to hold his high priced teammates and his coach accountable. Do what other hall of famers have done.

Yeah, his defense is a nice surprise given that he is allergic to training.

I've always wanted to see Brett Brown see this through and still have no interest in moving on from him, but there's a pretty easy way to put Ben in a position to shoot jumpers. Play him with Burke or Neto and let either of them run the half court offense and station Ben in the corner. That's how he hit his second 3 of the season and teams are going to give that shot up like they dare guys like Fultz and Lonzo.

If Brett's not willing to take this step at this point and is stubborn about it I'd consider it fire-able at seasons end if we don't win the title.

We can use confirmation bias to assume Joel is talking about Ben here, but it just as well may be Joel giving an example of what he, himself does to help out the team. As he has said before, he hates shooting 3's but will do it to help create space for Ben.

What you call confirmation bias, I call deductive reasoning and reading obvious context clues. This is not the first time this season Joel has subliminally called for Ben to take open shots.

For sure. However it also wouldn't be the first time that he has stated that he takes 3s to help spacing for the team. So... it literally can go either way. And you'll choose to read it however you prefer to interpret it.
I hate Simmons as PG as much as anyone. Just being honest here.... cant exactly say thats a shot fired. We can only hope.

I remember a post-game interview where Embiid said that he has always encouraged Simmons to shoot when he is open. And this season, Brown publicly challenged Simmons to take one 3 a game. I don't think it's breaking news that the Sixers want Simmons to shoot more. What will be news is when the positive encouragement erodes to frustration and dysfunction.

Will tell you one thing: It KILLED me to watch Ben post up the just as tall and athletic, and probably stronger Aaron Gordon repeatedly during that game while Embiid stood at the perimeter rather than being able to post unathletic no-D Vucevic.
Ben had no success posting up Gordon and you know Joel could have killed Vuc.
I just dont know how Brett Brown can watch that all game and never switch up that strategy. And I dont know how Embiid can see it on the court and not tell Ben to get out of his way.
