I keep seeing people offering Ibaka instead of Gasol but that would make zero sense. Gasol and Drummond together would be pointless. Drummond and Ibaka could actually play together on the court.
Gasol is too important defensively to trade him for Drummond.
I disagree. I think the defense has been fine without Gasol. Gasol is an abysmal and useless offensive player. I don’t know what the hell happened to him but he can’t score anymore. Its like somebody stole his offensive talent. He’s really just good for positioning and plugging up the paint.
There’s a reason why we were one of the top teams in 3 point shooting when Gasol was healthy. He created a lot of open looks for players and kept the ball moving, something people just seem to overlook. His 3 point shot was also starting to fall before he got injured which would’ve been great for spacing. He’s elite on the defensive end, people don’t realize how smart of a defender he is. He calls the other team’s offensive sets and is a vocal leader directing players to their proper positions, really moves well out on the perimeter for a big and has great hands in knocking balls loose and deflecting passes. Gasol is untouchable imo if we’re serious about making another run at the chip. Drummond would really benefit having Gasol as his mentor.
