Drummond in Boston would be cool too, but I doubt they take those type of chances/trades

They on different timelines. Trae Young is 21 and Drummond is 26. It makes no sense. Go with the draft get someone around the same age. You have to use the GSW/OKC blueprint. You want your best players around the same age so they can peak around the same time.
And Drummond all likelyhood will opt, which will force Hawks to overpay. In the modern NBA I want my big to be able to create some offense on his own and as well as defend rim. Either can postup and punish small lineups or shoot to space the floor. No way am I am committing big dollars to for just a rim roller and dunker.
And on the future is set. You're right on that. Once you get that the talent you need to have a great developmental culture and fit the right pieces around your franchise players. The Hawks have one foundation piece in Young, I'm not sure John Collins is the second piece. He puts up good numbers, but with most young players is hard to tell whether they are numbers on a bad team or he's actually having an impact. If I were them, I'd shoot for Lamelo or Wiseman in this year draft, and build around Young and one of the two.

I like it for Atlanta if they can get some type of verbal commitment from Drummond. We know what Drummond is in the NBA, we don't know what the draftees will be and a player who doesn't translate in the next couple of years would be detrimental to Atlanta's ability to retain Trae.

If Atlanta can field Trae, Huerter, Reddish/Hunter, Collins and Drummond, toss in retaining J.Parker for scoring off the bench and maybe Len as a backup and that's 8 players in their long term rotation, that's a bright future for that team. They HAVE to spend 90% of the cap and with all these low rookie salaries, why not pay/overpay Drummond, is someone worth near the max going to want to go to Atlanta... or play a catch and shooter with Trae Young having control of the ball?

All Atlanta has to do is not go overboard on a trade with Detroit.

I said it this summer and I'm saying it now, Philly changed course last year from building around Embiid to building around Simmons.
If you're building around Embiid you're building with defense and more physical players, if you're building around Simmons you're putting him in basically the same type of situation as Giannis is, shooting all around him.

- Adding Butler was building around Embiid, a physical wing to help rebound and tough play near the basket while Embiid had to be out at the 3pt line because the PG refused to shoot.
- Adding Harris was for Simmons, PF/SF to give Simmons more shooting in the starting lineup.
- Adding Richardson is another outside shooting big SG/SF who actually works with both Simmons and Embiid.
- Losing Butler helped keep the ball in Simmons' hands.
- Losing Reddick took away a key play for Embiid.
- Adding Horford was for Simmons, a PF/C to give Simmons more shooting in the starting lineup.

Without Embiid, Philly currently looks like...
Simmons, Richardson, Korkmaz, Harris, Horford, that looks a HELL of a lot like a roster customized for Simmons, then toss in whatever good/great player and assets you could get for Embiid and that team is ready to roll, has an identity and can build towards that identity. With Embiid and Simmons both on that roster, you don't have a real identity outside of being big in an era of 3pt shooting.

I'd build around Embiid myself which would have also meant retaining Butler and probably moving Simmons and hiring a different head coach(who would actually use pick and rolls) who would utilize Embiid way better than taking a huge man and turning him into a 3pt shooter instead of actually utilizing his size(which would leave less space for a nonshooting PG to attack the rim).

All it's going to take is an embarrassing bouncing from the playoffs(in the next 2 years) to make Philly move towards building around Simmons(who is a couple years younger too).

Harden v. Giannis, I'm getting AD v. Blake vibes. I don't wanna say it but I kinda do

That's the thrill mos. Anybody can cheer for Durant or Curry. It takes a special kinda masochist to rep the likes of CP3, Harden, Blake, etc.

Still not gonna say it tho

Yea, it's really tough to stan top 5-7 all time players at their positions (CP, Harden)

Blake is different tho. But even Bishops love Rondos sometimes
