Even if this move just saves us from ourselves in extending Dre in the off-season or having him opt in next year I am completely ok with it. He might go on to do great things with ATL which is fine. The way this team is built something needs to change.

A sweetner to get what?

You know what really pisses me off? The fact we traded that late first round pick to the Cavs for cash. Would have been nice having Kevin Porter.

I'd actually prefer the Brooklyn pick to come our way in 2021.Han Solo wrote:Sounds like Kyrie Irving needs surgery and will be out at least a few months. Are people just assuming that with KD (& Kyrie) the Nets are going to dominate the East together? Still got Philly, Boston, Toronto & the Bucks...

Yep same here. Not to sound like I'm lowballing ourselves, but we also don't have THAT much leverage since Dre's basically an expiring too. I'm fine with just an extra pick for this or next year and an expiring.
My greatest fear is the deals never fully go past the talk stage and simmer out with Dre walking for nothing next year. Let ATL handle all that next year while we enjoy a pick or two.

This!!
People were happy as hell when Detroit did Milwaukee a favor by taking Snell because they got #30 in return. You know, the worst possible FRP in existence. "Detroit got an extra 1st, that's what they should be doing" etc, etc.
People aren't consistent at all, they react based on whatever they feel in the moment.
Dominate the east? I'm pretty sure the assumption was that Brooklyn could likely squeak into the playoffs even with a broken Kyrie and convert a mid teens pick as opposed to next year when they would clearly be better. They don't have to dominate the east to have a worse draft pick next year. That statement is pretty inconsequential.Pharaoh wrote:I'd actually prefer the Brooklyn pick to come our way in 2021.Han Solo wrote:Sounds like Kyrie Irving needs surgery and will be out at least a few months. Whats any of that got to do with the pick converting this year or next
