One thing that secretly suspect...

Maybe, just maybe, Doc Rivers is letting this happen. Since there isn't much time, with contracts coming up, with Giannis breathing down our necks (not to mention Luka), maybe this is a microwave solution to team-building.

Experiencing troubles together can help bring groups closer. So, allowing trouble (and even manufacturing it) so that the group can work passed it together, might be intentional on Doc's part -- an old team-building trick.

Whatever the case, I don't see the Clippers ousting Rivers.

(honestly, this might be more believable than the thought that all of these Coaches on the staff are actually that shtty)

That would be incredibly stupid. We are in championship-or-bust mode and seeding is extremely important. We don't have time for our coach to start "manufacturing adversity."

That's clearly not what's happening, though. This team is underachieving the same way as all of Doc's other teams.

In this case, "allowing it"... not manufacturing it (for a moment I hearkened back to my days in Boot Camp... Drill Instructors and their little tricks... I caught one of my DI's 'manufacturing' things).

I wouldn't put it past Coaches even at the NBA level.

This is what you misunderstand. Most of the people here love Trez. Speaking for myself, he's my second favorite player after Blake, and I hope he sticks with us for years to come. I'd be really bummed out if we lose him, and totally fine with trading Zubac, as long as we get a decent replacement.

I just want us to put Trez in the best possible position to contribute. He's a high energy guy, always coming off the bench, so it's not that easy to just ask him for 30+ solid minutes all of a sudden. It takes a toll on him, especially on the defensive end. Then you get other players calling him out for missing rotations, he gets frustrated because he already does so much, and it can all spiral from there.

I'd rather we get 25 great minutes from him than 25 good ones and 10 bad ones. Of course it's also on Zubac to step up, but he can't do it from the bench. I don't care if we have to trade Zu, play Motley or Fi, whatever, as long as we don't send Trez out there for the final 18 minutes. Is this really such a big dis on Trez?

Agreed. Not a knock on Trez, he's amazing. But amazing players can produce less than amazing results if used inefficiently. It's easy to notice how great Trez is because of his ability to get buckets, but he bleeds defense and boards during unimportant regular season games. In games like this, give Zu more burn. He's a solid defensive anchor because of his size alone in the interior, where the opposing team was killing it. Zu and Trez provide two different things, so why not utilize them situationally. Trez is proven, Zu still wants to prove himself and trap games are the best place to do it.

Also, I think a lot of the blame for this game goes to Kawhi. He clearly doesn't give a damn during the less important games, plays sloppy on both offense/defense. Jae Crowder schooled him today. He's my favorite player and all, but gotta call a spade a spade as Kuz would say.

I hear you, bros. But Doc HAS given Zu more burn. And he will again. You'll see.

Zu was useless today when we fell down by 15 in the first 6 minutes. It wasn't really Zu's fault, but Trezz came in EARLY and righted the ship.

It's not that Zu is bad, but Trezz is that much better. He's a difference-maker, almost an all-star, maybe this year's 6th Man of the Year. Zu...isn't.

That's the fact here. Trezz COULD use a few minutes in the 4th to catch his breath. But that doesn't mean Zu is the answer. Zu can lose you 10 points in 3 minutes when he's not right. Game Over. And even a tired Trezz has not lost us a single game. Again, he should not be underrated.

In theory, more minutes for Zu and more rest for Trezz is a good idea. But Zu is not up to the job. 16-18 minutes per game is HIS limit. In reality, we probably need a 3rd big who can give Trezz that rest. I want that more than a point guard, if we have to choose.

As for Jae Crowder, he came in shooting 29% from 3. He had his best game in a month. It happens sometimes. Once I hit 24 free throws in a row. Usually if I hit 5 in a row, I end practice early and go buy myself a beer.

I agree with this. Zu and Trez are both Cs but play different roles on the team for us. I would say Trez is irreplaceable because of the value he adds in his role. I would also go on to say that although Zu is good, I'm all for upgrading him via some trade.

We didn't think Doc could get rid of Avery Bradley (and get great pieces in return) but I'll suck Jerry West's shaft if he can package Rome and Zu into Drummond lol.

LOL but not so funny...?

Can we go back to the Pistons well?

Drummond is not gonna win them a title, or even get them to the playoffs!
Drummond $27M [2020-21 player option]

for

Harkless [expiring] $11M
Zubac $7M/yr for 3 years

Congratulations on a successful trade
Due to the L.A. Clippers being over the cap and having a post-trade Team Salary over the Tax Threshold, the 25% trade rule is invoked. the L.A. Clippers could not receive more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. Also, the L.A. Clippers met the requirements of the Hard Cap rules of staying under the Tax Threshold plus $4M for adjusted post-trade Team Salary.

Due to Detroit being over the cap and having a post-trade Team Salary over the Tax Threshold, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Detroit could not receive more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here.

This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

I think that would be a no-brainer trade for us, and give Detroit some young pieces to work with.

I was hoping for Shamet to take a good step forward this year, but it hasn't happened (yet.) I really like both Zu and Shamet as individual players, but Drummond fills an immediate need for us.
