Re: Fake Trade Thread 2
Jonathan Isaac is probably going to be out for the season. That makes the 8 seed attainable. Is there a need for us to go after it? It wouldn't surprise me if we made a win now trade based on past history.

Re: Fake Trade Thread 2
We won't be anywhere near the 8 seed. I guess we will land around the 5th worst record. We have had no major injuries other than Batum and that's meh.
On a side note i wish there was a way to sign or land Brandon Ingram and draft Anthony Edwards.

Re: Fake Trade Thread 2
Humble New York farmer, I come in peace with a question: how much do you guys love Terry considering the emergence of Graham?
We obviously value RJ and Mitch Rob. To a lesser extent Frank Ntilikina. And much lesser extent Kevin Knox.
We value our picks.
Would hometown kid Dennis Smith Jr, Bobby Portis (who has a team option for next season) and say a Wayne Ellington (like Portis, in essence an expiring contract) be enough to start a real conversation? I think most New York fans would be against Terry because his contract runs a year too long for most’s liking. I’ve always been a fan.
Tell me his much he’s valued in your directives for the rest of this year. Are you guys looking for win now pieces? Expirings? Blockbusters? Fringe transactions?

Something like thisworks on trade machine and for my part, i think it would be a better option. if Knox is too much (though that's what would make the Hornets bite most likely as he would make Miles expendable), just replace him by Trier or expendable sg to match salaries (no long term option in Charlotte though).
Gibson has only 1M Guaranteed next year, and even if he was to remain a Hornet, he would be a good vet to monitor Washington. Saves a bit of cash as well compare to Portis (the team option is nice but i doubt any team would pick it up and wait to see his market value as FA).
As for DSJ, i doubt any franchise would give up any asset as he really seems a lost cause (at least right now). But as a back up in his home town, maybe he would be able to handle the pressure better and bounce back.

I like this trade for us and perhaps it works for the Knicks also. Doubt they would do it, but TR has really showed up some nights as a hybrid combo who can score.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

There's really nothing in new york (that's obtainable) worth going after imo
I like Portis, but I don't think they'd give him up with Randle and Morris both looking at the door already. We're never getting Mitch from them so like meh. And I'd rather our 3rd PG be someone with experience. I think DSJ is a good project still, but not if we have to give away anything of immediate value.

this though... I'd be very okay Glenn Robinson III here. Send Bacon to the shadow realm and get some actual scoring activity from under the 3pt line since no one else wants to do it in our offense. Still young too.

Look at who we are competing against though. Isaac was Orlando's best player. We are only 3 games out of the 8th seed.
Detroit is looking to blow it up and not in contention for 8. Chicago is one of the youngest teams and real streaky.
So, who is better than us that can get the 8th spot? You add an upgrade by trading MKG & Monk or something similar and we're right there. You really think MJ is going to embrace a tank when we are so close to the 8th seed and making some of that playoff $$$$?

I would love a deal around Kuzma for Marvin Williams + one of our youngs (monk or bridges) tough to make it work trade rule wise, is it worth the effort or am I in the minority here?
Separate thought, if we don't mind helping Atlanta how about a deal around Zeller for Crabbe (and a small asset?)

Crabbe is terrible. I just watched the Pacers run everyone-go-at-crabbe iso offense last night and dude had 3 fouls in under a minute.
I think everyone would like Kuzma as a young project, but the Lakers cap situation makes him damn near impossible to trade for.

Re: Fake Trade Thread 2
He probably meant Crabbe for his expiring contract. That would leave only the current 2020 expiring + Batum's expiring (if he picks up his option) in the book besides the rookie contracts, Rozier & the 2nd round contracts.
The idea is interesting since Atlanta still has many picks and Crabbe +one of their 2nd (if they still have their or any valuable in 2020) would be nice.

It's ironic, but I think that the team's odds of making the playoffs this year are better than last year, especially if they make a trade to do so.
I'm sure MJ would like that, but I also get the feeling he's more hands off with Mitch than he was with Cho/Cliff. I also feel like Mitch will not do anything crazy to pivot to win now. If there is a trade that lets the team keep developing and doesn't put them in a financial bind then he'll do it. If not then he will just let this season play out as is.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

Statistically Knox looks like a downgrade from Miles at this point, and nothing added really makes up for the loss of Terry. Don't really like this trade.

Re: Fake Trade Thread 2
Charlotte Hornets
Trade Targets:
Myles Turner
Andrew Wiggins
Bogdan Bogdanovic
Robert Covington
Mo Bamba
Charlotte's young nucleus has gelled at a rapid rate. In fact, the youthful core four of Devonte' Graham, Terry Rozier, PJ Washington and Miles Bridges has been so electric the Hornets might already be buyers in Year 1 of the post-Kemba Walker rebuild.
Buying is fine, but Charlotte must identify the right areas in which to splurge. Namely, the front office should target players on the same timeline, especially those who could fill voids as wing scorers or interior anchors.
Turner would be a dream get—the Indiana Pacers have to admit he doesn't fit with Domantas Sabonis at some point, right?—as most of this frontcourt (including the entire center rotation) will hit free agency this summer or next. He could plug some gaps in Charlotte's 27th-ranked defense, and the space he provides would open driving lanes for the guards and cutting lanes for the wings.
Wiggins is another fascinating option, provided the Hornets' array of big-money expiring contracts interests the Minnesota Timberwolves. Charlotte would suddenly be overloaded with athleticism along the perimeter, and Wiggins could ease the scoring burden on this budding backcourt. The top pick of the 2014 draft could also qualify as a buzzy acquisition in this type of market.

I could definitely see this team adding Andrew Wiggins. I just hope we're smart enough to extract some picks along with him because that contract is Risky.

Re: Fake Trade Thread 2
If we could get Wiggins and Bamba for Marvin, MKG, Monk and some seconds I would be on board. Our young center and young scoring wing to compliment what we already have. I think both guys are attainable and could be good fits to grow with our core guys. It give our lineups a lot of flexibility as well.

Re: Fake Trade Thread 2
Among those names, there is just turner who fits the core age wise and this team core's need. Though indy would ask Hornet's first most likely.
Wiggins turned it on during 3 months since he is in the NBA. And suddenly he is due to perform at a high level for the remaining years of his contract (without any team option, last year in 2023 being a nice 33M$). He's already cooled off.
Doing one mistake can happen (and Batum's contract was one, especially for his length), when you do mistake all the time it's generally a lack of intelligence.

Graham-Rozier-Covington-PJ-Turner
How far could that lineup go? I mean, I'd rather aim for a high draft pick and trade for picks/prospects... but that lineup has me thinking. Those two could completely change our defense.

Even with 'just' Turner, if Indy could agree for Miles+one expiring (Biyombo?), you could also use a :
Graham-Rozier-Martin-PJ-Turner line up with Monk as 6th man and then instead of a C, try to tank hard enough for Edwards (or a high potential two ways sg in this draft)
Turner contract is really nice even if he don't reach another level.
