A Lakers second rounder is pretty much valueless unless they have one from an earlier trade.

I think the time is now to develop Sekou. He seems to be handling big minutes surprisingly well and is actually more polished defensively than I thought he would be. It looked like he was tiring a bit towards the end of the game but drawing Lebron and Davis all game at his age and inexperience is crazy and he really didn't look bad against them, he even got in Lebron's head a bit as you can see Lebron's frustration showing in the 4th with Sekou getting up in his grill. Point being, shut Blake down and let this kid run with it.

Agreed. I definitely think he can pull a second round draft pick at worst. Hence my laugh at the proposed trade of Kuzma for Rose and Galloway. Considering the filler to make the salaries match, I think that trade should be Rose and Galloway for Kuzma plus a second rounder. Rose has just one year left, Galloway is an expiring, and for straight up value RIGHT NOW, Rose is easily worth more than Kuzma and Galloway isn't too far away. So that being said, the filler better also be expiring contracts.
Rose is easily worth more than Kuzma? You don't really believe that, do you?
Rose is a 31 year old with an extensive injury history while Kuzma is a 24 year old 16-18 point scorer. They didn't want to part with Kuzma in a package for Anthony Davis just to give you an idea of what they think of Kuzma. Aim much lower for Rose, like MAYBE a very late 1st round pick at best.
I see a Lakers fan would do a deal centered around Kuzma and Rose. Jeez, has Kuzma's value plummeted that much?

People really over-valuing Derrick Rose in here.
Rose was just as good, if not better, to start last season with Minnesota. Not only did he not fetch any prized trade return, but he also inevitably slowed down as the season went on. So far the only difference between Rose this season and Rose last season is his contract is now MUCH more expensive, dude was signed on a 1 year minimum contract last season.
I'm all for moving him, especially while he's showing to be relatively healthy, but we need to temper our expectations on what the return would be.

No, it wouldn't be. Rose RIGHT NOW is absolutely worth more than Kuzma. Yes, Kuzma is worth more to the Pistons long term than Rose is based on future potential of both players, but the Lakers are the ones going for a championship right now; the Pistons aren't. So you have to look at the trade in terms of equal value RIGHT NOW.
you think the lakers would have to give up kuzma plus picks for rose?
Pick, not picks. Rose and their 1st (which obviously will be a late round pick) for Kuzma.
The suggested trade was Rose and Galloway for Kuzma plus filler. If they want Galloway too then it's Rose/1st and Galloway/2nd for Kuzma and filler. Galloway is worth a late 2nd rounder. Do the Lakers HAVE to do it? No, of course not. But if I'm running the Pistons and know that dealing Rose and Galloway puts the Lakers two steps closer to championship contention this year, damn right I'm going to try to squeeze the hell out of them.

Rose RIGHT NOW, THIS YEAR, GOING FOR A CHAMPIONSHIP, is absolutely better for the Lakers than Kuzma, who's struggling to put up 12 PPG.
And yes, this was a Lakers fan's trade suggestion. Like I said, this would absolutely be a "going for it this year" move for the Lakers, not a "stay strong in the future" move, otherwise they absolutely don't do it. But in this hypothetical scenario you're damn right you try to make them overpay in the long run because they're getting a championship now.
