If Cousins come back too like a 14-5 player and we keep same team next year

C) Cousins/McGee
PF) AD <> wants to be PF/ Howard

This would put Kuz really out of place and might have to play SF or something? That's if his not getting traded.

How about a three team trade:

76ers receive: Zach Lavine, Thad Young and 2nd round pick from Bulls also get Danny Green, Kyle Kuzma and Jared Dudley from the Lakers.

Bulls receive: Ben Simmons and Mike Scott, and Cadwell-Pope from the Lakers

Lakers Receive: Al Horford and Denzel Valentine or Chandler Hutchison a top ten protected 1st round pick from the Bulls and a future second round pick from both the Bulls and 76ers.

Rational: Bulls gain star to build around in Ben Simmons.
The 76ers get a bonafide 2nd scorer in Lavine with quality supporting players for a championship run in Green, Young and Kuzma really rounds the team around Embied. The Lakers get a true third star quality player for their championship run a clear big three in Horford.

Why o' why would the Lakers trade all the spacing they have for another center?

It’s hard to come up with a worse trade for a good player

After trying for over 20 minutes to find a decent trade on ESPN Trade Machine, it's obvious that there's no real trade out there that can improve the Lakers. Kuzma's salary is too small and Green and KCP have No Trade Clause's, which makes it really hard to move their pretty big contracts.

The Lakers don't really need a trade anyway - the roster is essentially perfect in terms of fit and chemistry. Sure, Kuzma could play better but in his limited playing time he's been pretty dang good.

Very good episode. Kobe talks about coming up as a rookie, low moments in his career, retirement, off-court projects. It's funny that Kobe says he wanted Barnes as a teammate because of the fake ball throw in the Orlando game.

Kyle Kuzma, Quinn Cook and DeMarcus Cousins to the Timberwolves for Rob Covington and Jordan Bell.\

New lineup:

G - James/Rondo
G - Bradley/Caruso/Daniels
F - Green/Caldwell-Pope/Tucker
F - Davis/Covington
C - McGee/Howard/Bell

We get more versatile defensively and we get Covington who can guard Kawhi and any other SF.

The idea that we need some specialist to guard player X misses the fact that player X typically starts and finishes. Is Covington starting and finishing games?

The NBA has provided massive advantage for the offensive player and the best offensive players are rarely every even slowed down by a single defender... it's just how it is in the NBA. Remember all of the Kobe Stoppers who didn't stop Kobe.... back in the day every team got a 7-3" guy to "stop Kareem" and it didn't work... and so on.

On the other hand the NBA is a place a lot of versatile players find positions where they add and can fill in when players get injured or in foul trouble etc. Would Covington have scored 36 last night? Is his defense enough better than Kuzma's (who I think is not being given a fair evaluation on his defense) to warrant the difference in versatility?

I contend that these "specialists" we NEED to win is a mistake in understanding how a team works together. Kyle Korver has been one of the best 3 point shooters of all time yet he plays in short stretches and always has.... why when most think 3 point shooting is the only thing?

http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=rvdzvou

LAKERS get Jae Crowder, FVV
GRIZZ get Danny Green + buyout Iggy. We make it sweeter by adding any combination of a 2nd round pick, Quinn Cook, Troy Daniels, Jared Dudley, THT.
RAPTORS - Tyus Jones - a serviceable PG locked in for 3 years. We make it sweeter by adding any combination of a 2nd round pick, Quinn Cook, Troy Daniels, Jared Dudley, THT.

How about that? Gives us two starter / 6th man potential players in spots that we need reinforcements + Iggy.

Be a tough one for Pelinka to pull off cos of the sheer complexity and priorities of the teams in question, but it doesn't hurt to dream.

And I like Kuz, so, not trading him yet again.

You got to pay FVV a lot more money than you'd be comfortable next season. I'd much rather keep Green and the defence + spacing he provides in the playoffs.

Sure, but we're just over the cap currently. Another 25-30 mil to go in contract renewals. Paying him in the future is the least of my worries. He's a young gritty dude with a reasonable amount of talent & a clutch gene. 14-18m for a starting PG and a chance to win the title isn't all that bad bro.

You don't worry about next season but the summer of 2021 when Leonard, PG, Beal, Giannis could all hit the market. If LeBron decides to retire by then, you'd be looking to find another superstar to pair with AD. That is also why none of the big market teams are going to be offering money in free agency next summer.

Danny Green doesn't have a no trade clause, does he?

Jesus dude.. The main thing is winning the title this season.

What if Lebron retires, and buys out the Lakers, with Steve Balmer's money, as part of a wink wink deal when he signed, and moves them to Hawaii, and renames them the Hawaii Horizons? Will you then have to support the Clippers?

Without making any moves the Lakers have a good chance at winning a couple of rings...
