Sort of off topic, but definitely Suns related Twitter question

Post#1 » by phnart » Tue Jan 7, 2020 3:42 am

Serious question...
Is it bad form to tag a player on twitter when you are talking about them?

I just got blocked on twitter by a Suns fan for tagging Ayton when I mentioned that while his P&R D is bad, he's also rolling very slowly to the basket most of the time on offense, too. Was I a bad guy for calling out DA like this or did I just rub an Ayton fan the wrong way unintentionally?

Thanks!

Was that you calling him and 80 year old? Funny thing was I tagged Booker in a defense post and made a few posts when someone started arguing how good Book's defense is, and Book kept getting tagged. Brendon Kleen even And1'd me on the first one talking about his D. I assume that is who you are talking about.

I kind of felt he was also talking to me, because there is no way he did not see Booker being tagged, because me and the guy saying Book's defense was nearly the best on the team had a few back and forth posts.

It was me. He told me, basically, that I shouldn't tag a player on his tweet and to unfollow him, which I was going to do, but then he blocked me. I was going to apologize....but oh well. Is it bad form? Did I do something wrong? I'm fairly savvy about internet-iquette, but that was a new one.

Well I did basically the same as you, but maybe a little less of a post. For all I know he blocked me too...I haven't looked. He was tagged in a back and forth about Book's D.

But yes, you could say it's bad form to give players feedback..that's up for interpretation. I would try to do it somewhat respectfully if you tag them. You always hear that they get so much stuff on social media that it can depress them or really impact them, but these guys probably get 95% or more positive feedback when tagged because people want them to like them or be followed by them. I'd just rather our team be good. Not that tweets make any impact, but it's at least something you can try.

I also give compliments when people do well.

On a funny vaguely-related note.

I was blocked in Twitter by a girl (whom I interacted with kindly in the past) because I joked abut Joe Ingles being "close to ugly".

... the same I could joke about Frarío Sarinsky, for instance.

So I honestly wouldn't give that much importance to why people block other people.

They can do it for the weirdest of the reasons and I tend to consider it has nothing to do with me personally... it's more about what kind of people are them.

Appreciate the feedback. I’m not taking it personally at all and I do not feel bad about saying Ayton has been rolling to the hoop like an 80-year-old on the P&R because he has. There is no fire in the guy right now to make things happen and he needs to make things happen.

I think people need to talk in Twitter EXACTY the same way that he would talk on person. And the key word is respect.

What would yo say to Ayton if you find him in the street?

Do you think that he is gonna read your tweet and say..."ok, this guy says that I need to roll harder so I am gonna do it"?.

Come on, he has like five coaches over him all day long, he knows what he needs to do but he for whatever reason can not do it consistently.

I would be honest, and some of these writers will write negative things behind their back without saying it too their face. I don't think you should write something about someone you are not willing to say directly to them.

NBA players make millions of dollars for 7-8 months of work, they can handle criticism on social media I’m sure.

All celebrities understand it’s part of the gig and it’s one of the reasons they get paid so much.
