Graham will be in the 3 point contest. Good for him.

He deserves it. Fourth in the league in threes made.

Re: Golden Showers: the Devonte Graham Thread
amazing exposure. im surprised, since usually tilted toweards stars. however, based on his last month, he shouldnt be in. 33% over last 15. shows how much a fast start impacts asg stuff.
i hope he kills it though.

Being top 5 in 3s should get you in regardless, slowing production or not. Feels like we're way too pessimistic around here sometimes.

Re: Golden Showers: the Devonte Graham Thread
What shouldn't be discounted is the fact that Devonte will spend time around great players and it instills a degree of confidence someone like him can benefit from. Like, would Devonte be anything more than a third string PG if he didn't spend so much time around Kemba last year? He worked overtime on his three point shot to emulate what Kemba did for us... it's clearly paid dividends. But it also shows he can be molded and if he works the same way on his finishing/mid range game he can be a complete player for us in short order.

I think that getting 3 guys in the Rising Stars and Devonte in the 3 pt contest can only be good for our morale and for those guys development

Re: Golden Showers: the Devonte Graham Thread
I am still reluctant to annoint Graham the long term answer at PG
he brings the same set of issues that we had with Kemba: he is small and so can not impose his will physically on the game; this means resorting to the 3 ball; and no driving to draw fouls; we saw this with Kemba: when the 3 ball isn't falling he can shoot us out of games and when necessary the other team can shut him down

if you're comparing a 2nd round pg to kemba right after he's moved up from being the 3rd string guy to a MIP candidate then he's probably worth the investment at the very least

Re: Golden Showers: the Devonte Graham Thread
no one on this roster is the answer to anything... at least not to prevent us drafting or trading for something potentially better.

I'm going to disagree. Devonte could be fine long term as the team's starting PG. His shooting and passing alone make him a good potential starter.
You are correct that the team needs a physical player who can be a shot creator, but it doesn't have to be the team's PG. Pair Devonte with that guy and he will be fine.
It's also OK if they draft another PG who ends up being that guy.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

We just draft the best player available. No one on our roster is yet a cornerstone piece.

I agree with this. As a rookie, Devonte learned from two of this generation's best PGs. He's only going to get better. That said, if Cole Anthony is there when we pick, I'm sure MJ and Mitch won't be able to control themselves.
(My preferences are Vernon Carey, James Wiseman and LaMelo Ball -- whose height could pair well with Devonte)

Re: Golden Showers: the Devonte Graham Thread
Your friendly reminder that the Hornets haven't drafted a UNC player in 4 seasons, and prior to that was 2005. There are also 0 UNC players currently on the team.
