Joe Wieskamp

Post#1 » by clyde21 » Wed Jan 23, 2019 6:52 pm

Probably a 2 or 3 year player, but he's averaging 45% from 3 on almost 4 attempts per game, 18/8 per 40 on 65 TS%, 20 PER and 7 BPM.

A little slow and mechanical in his movements (kind of like Iggy Braz), but can really shoot it, good size, great BBIQ with a strong motor on both ends.

He's actually got good speed and can get off the floor nicely. In a game a week or two ago he took the ball coast to coast three straight times for a layup or dunk.
He has to improve his ballhandling and getting his shot off quicker.
But he's got a real good outside shot and can get to basket quickly on straight line drives. In pre-season workouts with Iowa veterans Wieskamp dunked on a number of starters including Tyler Cook, Iowa's best player and a pro prospect.

7.9 BPM, 21 PER, 66 TS%, 52% from the field and 45% from 3.

again, most likely not a OAD candidate but he's having a great freshmen year.

Statistical profile looks pretty good, aside from lacking assists.
I was right about 3 point shooting. I expect to be right about Tacko Fall. Some coach will figure out how to use Tacko Fall. This movement towards undersized centers will sweep ng back. Back to the basket scorers will return to the NBA.

can legit defend, too.

Always love my Iowa boys, think he'd be a pretty solid later 1st gamble, probably never a star, but wouldn't be surprised at all if he was a decent rotation guy. Don't think I'd expect him to come out though.

bumping for Wieskamp, been hot and cold shooting this year but projects pretty easily as a decent 3+D guy at the NBA level, maybe more.

I only saw him once this year, when he got manhandled by my DePaul Blue Demons. Hopefully scouts don't see that film for his sake.

If he didn't come out that first year I don't exactly think nba scouts will be salivating at his efficiency now. Will having a 60% TS year put him on the nba radar, though?

PS I'm posting from a pretty firm position of not having a clue what I'm talking about

well, he hasn't even been as efficient as I thought he would be but he's getting there, 27/6/2 last night, he's good from the line (78%), 42% from 3, can play both SG and SF, passable defender, doesn't need the ball in his hands to contribute

really the dude can fit anywhere, that's really important in today's NBA and I think NBA GMs (if they're smart) are gonna value him a lot more than most people think...kinda like how Chuma went 17th last draft despite the ACL

And MD's a very good perimeter defense team - though they inexplicably took the day off at Iowa.
