Yeah, but those contracts run out in 2021. Whereas CP3 will have another year of over 47mil coming to him. So, you can kiss any free agents goodbye at that point, if you're stuck with that contract. It's really not that complicated why Miami is ok with those 27mil contracts which expire in 2021 over CP3s. Plus adding him doesn't guarantee a ring for Miami, not to mention his age and injury history.
It's quite simple IMO.
CP3 is amazing until his hammy flares up in late April/Early May. It sucks, but it's usually how this thing plays out. This quality of play isn't guaranteed 3-4 months from now, so I'm enjoying it while it's still happening.
Yea', that's my man's but he's name brand Lowry. Beard probably could have took him to the promise Land if not for GS, him and Giannas would be dope tho
Wait, CP3 that many people think could be the greatest point guard of all time is just a name brand Lowery? Wow. I get Lowry is a good PG but he's not in CP3s class. A simple look at them playing head to head would show you that, very rarely would Lowry have better games then CP3 because defense comes into play and of course, CP3 is a superior player.
It seems to me that this cap space for 2021 really distorts people's view of players, basically justifying why not to consider aquiring them and also just being happy that Miami is just better then they were last year. It'll be highly interesting if Miami doesn't make a big move, loses some key role players this summer, takes a step back record wise and goes into the summer of 2021 a lesser team with an aging max star(short window with him) and possibly the young guys(Herro, Nunn, Robinson) not improving much in their 2nd year to make Miami a lesser desired destination. IT IS A REAL POSSIBILITY THAT NEXT YEARS TEAM MAY BE WORSE RECORD WISE and those optics may be a big factor in hindering the Heat's ability to get a top tier free agent.
Just because this team is doing well right now doesn't mean the same success happens next year, it could but it's not guaranteed.
If 2021 was this #()$)(# important, why in the world did Miami give up a good player in Richardson, a #1 pick to move Whiteside when both of those would have help strengthened Miami's odds at getting a top tier player vs hey, we have 32 year old Butler, come play 2 seasons with him before he's gone or no longer the same type of impact player! It's just a very confusing move if 2021 is that important.
