I was very much on the fence on Lonzo and I'm still not a 100% sold on him even though he's had a great stretch, but I agree that we could have done a lot more with the 7th pick. I was advocating dangling the 7th pick for Spencer Dinwiddie. Not sure if the Nets would have done it, but he's talented and young enough to grow with this team. He and LaVine in the backcourt could be deadly.

Considering the role Dinwiddie played in recruiting KD and or Kyrie, no shot they would have considered that.

Plus I highly doubt the 7th pick in a weak draft would have been enough anyways.

Didn't know he recruited them. In that case you're probably right.

Bulls trade Otto Porter, Zach Lavine and Lauri Markkanen for Ben Simmons, Tobias Harris and Shake Milton.

Thoughts?

Pelicans want to trade for another veteran.

How about Thad young or Etwuan Moore.

That would bring the Bulls down to one rotation PF, and 7 small guards.

If they move Thad, it should be for a big center or an athletic wing.

I think you need Moore's salary to make deal work, but I wonder if we could also get Okafor, Hart or Jackson in that deal?

I see on WT that Indy is rebuffing offers for Turner, but I'd be down with at Porter/Markken for Turner/McDermott (to make $ work).

You want Simmons to play with LaVine and Markkanen not trade them for each other.

This team will suck either ways regardless of positional fit.

I would jump on this trade. The first thing to do is to get out of that Thaddeus Young contract fast.

If I am the GM, I would flash that 30 mil for the next three years saving to Reinsdorf.

Imagine how many extra scouts that we could hire with that extra $$$.

I bet Pax is livid with the soft Lauri. I bet he traded him.

Lauri for Saric Bridges and Cam Johnson. Not any top end talent but cheap contracts and he doesn’t have to pay Lauri. Totally a Pax trade.

Wow 3 young specialty talents for Lauri? I think PHX hangs up and laughs.

Lauri’s value is more like Justin Holiday and Doug McDermott.

You can throw him into a package for Westbrook, Paul or some other overpaid max star.

Lauri’s value is drain-low. You need to get a coach/system just to improve Lauri’s stats to get him on the trade market.

I agree that it is pointless to trade Lauri while his value is low. IMO, he needs to be almost 100% healthy to be a very good player, but that is the minority of most seasons. I'd rather keep him in case a good situation comes up down the road. It's like the Bobby Portis, Niko story, nobody is coming to pay Lauri $20M/yr if he plays like this.

Don’t believe it. What Lauri showed in year one and 2 set his value. He’s a buy low candidate but you would still have to cough up value.

Hope Bulls get a real coach that can pump his value and then trade him. I don’t think he’s a long term piece.

Obviously this team could use a SF, but when I look around the league there aren't that many that they could potentially pursue (realistically). Are there any that you think they should go after? Or is it best just to wait until Porter gets healthy?

Just as a thought exercise, does either side say yes to this trade?

Bulls Trade: 2020 Unprotected 1st Round Pick

Knicks Trade: RJ Barrett

It would have to be after the lottery before the Knicks even consider it but if there's one franchise that's going to trade a number 3 pick after his rookie season it's the Knicks.

CJ Miles is/going to get waived. Do we pick him up to fill the gap for the year?

Its a fair proposal considering you just have to be in top 5 for a chance at number1 and Bulls are awfully close.
Considering Knicks prospects usually have terrible seasons, I wouldnt be shocked if they took this deal.
RJ is the exact type this franchise needs more than Lavine (point forward). Hes a jumpshot away so hire someone like Hoiberg.
Lamelo will be a future superstar Bull. Book it. Lavar for president!
