This is a imporatant loss. Bulls are currently at the 5th pick and a loss here would tie us up record wise.

Without WCJ, Dre should feast here. Another 20-20 game incoming. Win or lose will depend on if Lavine goes off or not.

If we are going to trade Drummond we need to act sooner than later. Drummond and Rose are the biggest threats to the tank.

Remaining January schedule:

vs Bulls
vs Pelicans
@ Celtics
@ Atlanta
@ Washington
vs Kings
vs Grizzlies
vs Nets
vs Cavs
@ Nets
vs Raptors

That's about as easy of a 10+ game stretch as you'll ever see in the NBA. Only 2/11 games will be against a team currently with a winning record in that span.

The concern is twofold.

1) If Pistons go on a little run during this cupcake stretch, it may convince Gores/Ed to not only stay the course, but might even persuade them to become buyers. Yikes!

2) Even if they eventually do the right thing and sell off to rebuild, there is probably going to be a handful of wins in this stretch against teams in direct competition of tanking. Those extra unnecessary wins, could be absolutely critical to draft positioning.

Casey keeps playing Rose 30mpg and he'll get hurt soon enough.

There must be like no easy games left after January, since we also had one of the easiest starting schedules. I mean, my god.

I don't think it'll convince them to not sell or become buyers (though lack of good offers might result in the former). They know the same thing we do- how easy the upcoming schedule is and how close we are to a playoff spot. They made the call to start selling anyway.

I havent looked too deeply into the schedule after January, but these links give us an idea of strength of schedule.

http://www.espn.com/nba/stats/rpi/_/sort/SOS

Detroit is currently tied for 26th hardest schedule so far.

http://www.tankathon.com/remaining_schedule_strength

Detroit has the 18th hardest schedule for the rest of the season.

Now of course that super soft January schedule plays a big role in that .500 remaining schedule. So After January it figures to ramp up

As you get later in the year, the difference between the easiest and hardest schedule gets smaller, of course. So we'll see I guess.

Just take as it is. We got such a bad record losing to these type of bad teams anyways. We suck just as much as anyone at this point.

My main concern is how bad a top 4 pick is this year. Even Anthony Edwards is becoming crazy inefficient at this point.

Pretty much all the top guys are gonna be shooting below 40% this year lol

Yeah, that's why I'm becoming a lot less particular about whether picks we get back in hypothetical trades come this year.

You are probably right, but until an actual move is made to tangibly signal the start of a rebuild I'm always going to be concerned. I don't trust Gores/Ed to operate with an eye toward the future, and I definitely am not going to put them past making bad decisions.
