So was the draft that produced Giannis, so chances are one of those are hiding somewhere in the depths.

We have to accept the fact we are going to perennially going to be drafting between 14-18 for the next decade while the FO and ownership throws the fans the "we are a playoff team" bone.

The draft is projected by the media to be deep for PGs and very thin for PFs and combo-bigs. SO I project quite a few of the PGs to flop and quite of PFs to star relative to draft slot.

The Magic drafting at a probable 17, Orlando can look to quite a few interesting SG prospects. RJ Hampton as a combo-guard makes a lot of sense for this team, need wise.

He's a little bit older and maybe not the best fit for the Magic's roster, but I Aamir Simms has really improved a lot for Clemson. I like his game.

Easiest team to build is one that is not a true contender and not a high lottery team.

Im still wondering what direction we're going to in order to find our superstars.

I think we have to take 1-2 steps back in order to move forward. I am not advocating tanking because it ruins culture esp. for the young guys and there is no guarantee with the new format you are going to draft high.

BUT...
We can still field a competitive team yet do some sort of reset. We have some great building blocks in Fultz and Isaac so no need to go into full tank mode.

That's logical.

What's not logical is trying to fool yourself into believing a capped out team with Vuc, Fournier, Gordon and TRoss are enough to legitimately compete at the top.

Stop trying to "retain the asset" by giving them new contracts that are hard to move. Instead make trades to attain draft picks, young players who teams have soured on that you scouted and liked, or expiring contracts. So easy but we have no guts to do it.

I'm really enjoying college basketball this season, but I just can't get excited about the draft this year knowing that we will be picking outside the lottery in a pretty weak draft class.

I think Gobert was drafted that year too. Kind of funny to think about MCW winning rookie of the year in a draft class that featured Giannis, Dipo, Rudy, and Mccollum lol

notable non-lottery selections:
Dieng
Schroder
Tim Hardaway jr
Mason Plumlee (better one !)
Gobert
Reggie Bullock
Alen Crabbe
Mike Muscala
James Ennis

not all of them are great, but solid pickups.

Question is, what pick range in this draft would ya'll trade Bamba for?

I would trade Mo for picks 8 thru 14. To me, best to gamble on getting a player that can contribute more.

Given the improvement we have seen from last year to this, I would argue that keeping him is just as good a gamble on “getting a player that can contribute more” next year ... and without being at the mercy of letting have the league have their choice first.
