Just gonna expect that we're sitting out the trade deadline again. So I'll be pleasantly surprised if we get someone good who can help in the postseason (and possibly beyond).
But I think it will be a busy trade deadline in general. While Lakers, Clippers, and Bucks are favorites, that won't stop other teams from improving their roster to see how far they go in the playoffs. There are so many vets stuck in rebuilding teams too that can be had.

I think it's entirely possible that Danny will make a "minor" move or two to bolster the bench without sacrificing the future. Someone like Alec Burks who is on a minimum contract and could be had likely at a decent price. I also think we could snag a veteran for depth off the waiver wire. Would be nice to see where Timelord is at prior to the deadline. if he's back and can contribute then our trio of Theis/Kanter/RWilliams looks pretty solid

Looking current standing in East, if we can hold to 2nd seed high chance we make it to EC finals...first round would be against nets/magic...2nd round only team we could lose is Philly, others imo we will manage.
Now making EC finals, is there any one via trade that can help us beat Bucks? If yes, we go all in making trade, if not also minor moves will not help, so no need to make trades.

Ivan rabb released.
Think he can be a player in the league. Just always been on bad fit teams.

Every season, we keep saying he'll make a minor move during the trade deadline. Not gonna fall for it again lol.
The buyout market is more likely, but then we'd have to waive a player.
Ideally, we make a 2-for-1 trade to improve bench and open up a roster spot, but yeah, not gonna expect it.

Let’s hope clippers trade for baynes and Tristan Thompson gets bought out. We can offer him significant minutes and exposure to get his next contract

That's because he had Drummond guarding him.

Yeah, I didn't watch the game but it looks like Jahlil ate Drummond's lunch.
In 38 minutes Okafor had 25 points (11-21 FG), 14 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 blocks.
For the record, I'm not posting this because I want Okafor; I'm posting this because I don't want Drummond.
edit: CeltsPride17 beat me to it.

I'm not advocating for Drummond to Boston at all, but to his defense, he's checked out. Mentally he's done with Detroit. If he gets traded into a better situation we will all see a much more determined and focused Drummond. I think he'd do well with a team like Atlanta. Parsons expiring (and then waived by Detroit), Reddish, and a 1st round pick for Drummond should do it.

It's like the old saying... when the going gets tough, the tough mentally check out. He sounds perfect on any team not named Boston.

Re: Trade Ideas Thread, 2019-20
Drummond’s man defense is a weak point, yeah. But in the clips I saw Okafor was out-rebounding him, too.
I’m just still betting on Okafor - if he was overhyped out of Duke and hadn’t bothered to get in shape or learn anything to go along with his low post savant game, he’s been busting his ass for 2-3 years. He’s gotten stronger and lighter on his feet, he rebounds well now, he’s not a liability with his defensive reads, and he doesn’t have a midrange or perimeter shot yet, but he’s much more aware of how to play within a team system, he sets screens and does dribble hand-offs, and he’s improved at making a quick move instead of killing clock pounding the ball (though he still does that).
He looks to me very very similar in production and skill-set to who Demarcus Cousins was in Sacramento when we were linked to him. He could be a 25-10 starting center today with no spacing or “facilitating” and mediocre defense, but trending upward at the latter two and likely to eventually improve at the first.
I just don’t understand his “blacklisting” at all - Atlanta, Charlotte, Cleveland, New York, Washington, San Antonio - nobody wants him as a rotation player? He barely plays in New Orleans because they’re trying to develop Hayes.. I could see them trading or releasing him as a favor..
It’s just.. all that improvement and ability *and* he’s one of the best low-post scorers of the last 30 years! It’s surreal to me that he’s not a part of any team’s plans. It’s like James Harden getting traded away from the Thunder after his rookie year because they had Durant and then getting cut by his next team because he didn’t play defense..

Poirier, semi and bucks pick to nyk
Wannanaker and a second to lakers
Kuzma, denis smith jr and brazdeikis to celtics.
Nyk gets youth, depth and a pick for further deals
Lakers get a backup playmaker
Boston upgrades bench scoring and takes a low cost chance on smith jr. (Smart can be backup pg and green backup sg if doesnt work well.
Kemba/smith
Brown/smart
Hayward/kuzma
Tatum/gwilliams
Theis/kanter

Did you see all the awful games before it? Impact wise he's been as bad as ever. He's just like Jabari Parker - a bust with a nice looking statline once in a while.

this deal brings 2 of my least favorite players to the Celtics (Smith JR & Kuz). NO THANKS

Re: Trade Ideas Thread, 2019-20
I'd love to pick up DSJ or Ntilikina as a developmental project.. Frank especially has a higher ceiling.
The lowest-risk path would be this:
Poirier/Wanamaker for Bertans (works in the ESPN checker, might take more salary)
Theis to PHO, Baynes to LAC, Zubac to BOS
Walker/Smart/Waters/Edwards
Brown/(Smart)/Langford
Hayward/(Brown)/Ojeleye/Green
Tatum/Bertans/Grant Williams
Kanter/Zubac/Rob Williams
Waters gets a full-time contract; Tacko stays on a two-way as the 16th roster spot; Green is cut to open a spot for Burks. Or, if you keep Waters on his two-way and/or trade Edwards for a future 1st (maybe as part of the Zubac deal) or with the MIL pick for a higher first-round pick, you can hope for a buy-out add like Marvin Williams:
Kemba/Smart/Waters-or-Edwards
Jaylen/Burks/Langford
Hayward/Bertans/Ojeleye
Tatum/Marvin/Grant
Kanter/Zubac/Rob(/Tacko)

Did you? He's only averaging 14 minutes a night, he hasn't had many "awful" games, just ones where he doesn't make as big an impact in 5, 7, 16 minutes. His per-minute production is solid, so's his PER. And - maybe someone has better access to data than I do and can confirm or deny - the on-court/off-court defensive numbers and +/- that were the albatross around his neck in Philly haven't been horrible.

He has improved his individual efficiency for sure but he lost his spot to Hayes and averages 14 minutes for a reason. He has -8 on/off. Pelicans go from competitive without him to trash with him. Hayes has been much better player in his rookie year.
Just let him go.

Re: Trade Ideas Thread, 2019-20
I want to see what happens over next 10 games with Smart and Hayward healthy. If we are percentage wise still a 55 win team and still struggling against elite teams while feasting on weak teams.... then we should go for it and trade either Smart or Hayward as they have the salaries needed to get something good. If team gets on a roll then those guys stay untouchable and then you shoot for a cheaper veteran.
Last night we saw Thaddeous Young feast on Tatum and Grant. There is our weakness in a nutshell. We need a PF stronger than Tatum and with more length than Grant but who is still versatile like a wing. Thad would be a great pickup if his salary weren’t prohibitive. Maybe trading Hayward or Smart for Thad would be worth it if you could also get a good young prospect like Wendell Carter.

"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."
