Yeah, it's insurance in case the youngsters don't pan out. But if you're legit as a rb you'll be able to hack it pretty much immediately. Not a position that requires a lot of knowledge to learn. Either you have it or you don't.

Overall more bad signs than good when it came to Watson. Badgers will have a couple more cracks at it w/ Davis and Berger. There will be a significant drop-off almost surely either way. JT was arguably the best of all time.

But you figure the run game will at least be above average w/ the line and options. The only rb I can recall that I couldn't wait to move on from in the last 20-30 years has been P.J. Hill. 3rd down backs are needed too. Dare and Ingold recently had value.

The tougher position to replace historically, given it is a position where there's a learning curve usually, and the recruits not being as highly thought of; is receiver. That's going to be an x-factor position.

Cephus proved to be a go to guy. Davis used to be one but he's had one of the more peculiar falls from grace I can recall. He's the one who'll return. Needs to have a resurgence for that position to still be an asset you figure. AJ Taylor is also graduating and he was a reliable target, in addition to stretching the field a little. Pryor hasn't been much of a route runner and target physically. More of a perimeter runner.

Who is going to emerge? There needs to be someone. Mustapha and Abbott came in w/ decent acclaim, but haven't heard much since.

Bucky is getting gutted. This was the best year to make a move. Obviously a couple 2-3 big missed opportunities.

Still have hope for the defense being a force again. The Baun graduation hurts though. Like TJ, we hardly knew ye.

I wonder if they'd go the juco route to get a receiver?
At a party given by a billionaire, Kurt Vonnegut informs Joseph Heller that their host had made more money in a single day than Heller had earned from his novel Catch-22.

It's early to be sure, but I've seen him listed anywhere from mid 1st round to mid 2nd.

Berger apparently was a good receiving back in HS that lined up out wide often so he could maybe line up in the slot a bit if he's good. Groshek obviously is good as the receiving back for now.

As for Watson - by no means do I think he's great right now, but he was improving as the season went by. He needed to improve his patience and he was getting there.

That sucks.

I’m seeing a bunch of replies to tweets that “it doesn’t make sense because he could start next year” and “he should’ve gotten the ball more.”

Dude is 160 lbs. He’s a gadget player (a gadget that we’ll definitely miss).

Sounds like he wants to go play with his buddies closer to home with the Schiano Man.

Yeah, and while Cruickshank got a shot to play on a big stage so maybe doesn't care, someone like Berger I could see being convinced to stay at Rutgers if they believe in the Schiano Man.

If Schiano is legit in bringing them back, Cruickshank is probably going to be immediately eligible and go 4-8 and 6-6 in his 2 years as they play in the Detroit Oil Change Bowl. At least you could sell a vision of being in the mix for the B10 East (lol I mean probably not) in 3-4 years to an incoming recruit.

Here's a list of the Badgers top recruits since 2000. Wow, a lot of disappointment in this list. Only a few became role players in the pros, then there's Joe Thomas. One guy got suspended, then shot multiple times. One guy quit because of migraines. Some didn't make it through 4 years.

I knew there's a lot of risk with top recruits, but I didn't realize it was this much. There are a few still currently on the team or going to be incoming freshmen.

You need some playmakers. Jeez, who's our top returning playmaker, Ferguson?

He definitely would've helped and they need those. I'm just saying his "bigger role" may not be as big as some people think.

Bradrick Shaw transferring doesn't surprise me at all. He'll go somewhere small he can actually play to finish his college career.
