Magic sign F Gary Clark to a second 10-day contract

Clifford wasn’t happy with Khem’s defence at the PF last night... So theres certainly some minutes available for Clark to battle with Vic Law with Isaac and Aminu out long term.

Defensively Clark seems a solid fit and Khem and Wes don’t do much on offence so it will continue the 4 on 5 theme on that end.

Assuming Aminu, Okeke, and Isaac are out for the season (and assuming no Magician will again get injured), what is the depth chart *?

For me I see Clark as a guy who could get 5 minutes per game in blow-out minutes:
Fultz/Augustin/Carter-Williams
Fournier/Ross
Iwundu/Frazier/Johnson(2W)
Gordon/Clark/Jefferson/Law(2W)
Vučević/Bamba/Birch

A nine-man rotation in blue with scrub minutes in brown. Emergency players in red. This is still a small-ball team.

There is certainly scope for another combo-forward if any of the disabled player exemptions are granted, but I think that would be part of a trade package.

I do think the above roster will get the Magic to a 7 or 8 seed. Will it get to 41-wins? Hmm.

This also means Michael Carter-Williams is close to returning.

It's a shame about Josh Magette but The Magic do retain his G League Rights and got 10 Days of NBA Salary although some other team might give him a Two-Way Deal.

Gary Clark is a good add and it's low risk as they are on a 10-Day Deal. I can see some other small roster moves as The Trading Deadline and then Buyout Season approaches.

I Like the signing... decent shooter and can defend 3/4 spots. Our Forward depth is so depleted right now. Josh seems like a great guy and wish him the best, as others indicated... MCW may be back for the Lakers game.

Robbins said that the team will 'see how MCW feels' for the Lakers game.

Seems like a strange move to ditch Magette without a guarantee that we'll have a backup PG for tonight.

Not sure why people keep thinking this signing means MCW is back. DJ is healthy and playing. We no longer need a backup PG.

We desperately need forward depth though.

Regardless, having forward depth was much more important then PG depth. Especially since that PG was nothing special in Magette.

We need a start SF/PF badly right now with Isaac and Aminu out all year. Who knows if Clark can grow into that starter for us or not.

Tiny sample size of just 64 minutes, but Clark is averaging 11 PTS, 10 REB and shooting .364 3PT per/36.

I hope he gets another 10-day contract at least.

Small sample size but I think the Magic would be foolish not to hold onto this kid with Isaac and Aminu out.

To me he looks much more likely to be a rotation player than Jefferson, Johnson, Frazier Jr or Law... And when we need smaller lineups he seems as effective as Khem in certain aspects, while being able to actually shoot a bit.

You know what has me confused? We sign this guy but not one magic poster has posted his stats aka wingspan. lol

Oh and maybe his height and weight too to see if he is another undersized athletic longboi or not
