I do wonder mostly about his level of competition. Isaiah Canaan went to Murray St as well and was two time OVC player of the year. I saw enough of Canaan over the last couple of years.

Then you have Cameron Payne who was also OVC POY like Morant, and had pretty good stats...not quite at Morant level, but better in some areas like only half the turnovers (and about 70% the assists), more steals, better 3 pt shooting..

Though I guess Curry played a similar level of competition, as did Lillard and McCollum, though they were/are all elite shooters, even off the dribble.

tourney play against Marquette and Florida St. didn't alleviate those concerns for u?

Marquette did quite a bit but then he didn't play so well againt Florida St outside of his 3 pt shooting. Outside of his 3s, he shot 3-15 from the field and had 4 ast and 2 turnovers and they got beat by nearly 30. I figured FSU would be quite a test because they were a legit team, much more so than Marquette but they brought the concerns back a little bit.

The 5 seed in the tournament with their own elite college point is a laughing matter? Hyperbolic much?

He played just fine against FSU. If you thought he was bad, you must think Culver and Barrett are undraftable at this point after some of their tournament games.

He kept them in the game as long as humanly possible against Florida State. That was a case of Florida State being on a much higher level than the rest of the Murray State team.

This isn’t a good sign that there aren’t enough players at the top so we’re looking for players to go into it. Morant is going to be a top 10 pick because this draft is weak. There are literally no point guards in this draft, it would make no sense for him not to come out.

I know I opened the thread when nobody knew about they guy and I still like Morant but he is gonna get drafted like 15-20 spots too high, still a great story and find to get a 2 star guy that has a chance to be a NBA rotation player, but I am out on him as a high level prospect

Not really, Morant still has his issues, but time passes and things change. Deciding Morant is a top 3 pick back then is like a 1 in 20 chance. And if you look at more than one post, there are reasons why our opinions have changed.

so I was clearly lower on this guy that I should've been (had him 6th IIRC)...definitely should have been higher on his combination of athleticism, motor and handles/playmaking

I mean Morant is clearly doing better than anyone expected, however he is definitely shooting an unsustainable percentage from 3 and I think it’s obvious that will come down over time. The 2nd half of the year will be interesting.
