We know the cheating will continue because we've seen this play out in other sports (e.g., football). Does anyone believe Brady lost his phone? Does anyone believe that the Pat's running backs, many of whom were picked up off the scrap pile due to fumbles, wouldn't have fumbled more if they weren't playing with a deflated "Nerf" football that's easier to grip? The Pat's have won two since deflate-gate -- all others are suspect at best. If the titles were stripped, Brady isn't in the conversation for the GOAT.

I agree , take away both Astros and Red Sux titles. We should of and could of beat the Astros that year in 17' and maybe even last season. Screw them. But I'm not going to put it on the players, this was the organization's idea.

So true.

Even if the Astros didn't cheat in the playoffs, the home field advantage they acquired was enough to create an huge advantage.

What I've been hearing is that Altuve knew which pitch was coming from Chapman in the at bat that sent the Astros to the WS.

You guys lost. That's life. Stop your crying you little babies. Now you want draft picks and have their title taken away from them. That's too funny.

Old George would simply make sure that this season you beat their asses ... no, make that "dominate their asses." Get in their asses with a can of spray paint and paint "George was here!" That's all that matters now.

Yankees were up 3-2 in the series heading back to Cheatland. It has to matter somewhat.

What’s done is done though. I don’t really care to take away their title. Just put an Astro-rik :D

Those f*ckers basically had Guess Pitch On (for those who play MLB The Show) the entire time they played at home.

Imagine all those home games they won that they could've lost had they not had that advantage.

How many players and manager's jobs they cost because of their cheating effecting performances.

Oh wow. I didn't know all that. So has anyone gone over those last two games inning by inning to see if that was the case? That's interesting.

I know Cashman was ready to move on, but I wonder if Girardi would've kept his job had the team gone to the World Series or maybe even won the whole thing.

if the mets fire beltran when he was a PLAYER and not a COACH then the following needs to happen.

1. every member of that astros team also need to be punished
2. every member of that astros team aren't allowed to manage a team.

the only reason beltran's name was released is because he's not a player anymore, so the players union can't throw a fit.

I'm sorry I can't defend blatant cheating.

Even if their numbers skew the other way I'm not able to turn other cheek and act like the proof wasn't there.

I don't care if one or two of their players numbers were better on the road. This was a whole team thing and it started all the way from the top-down.

The Astros as a team basically stopped swinging at balls and making much more contact as soon as the cheating started. It appears it was hugely beneficial, and is born out statistically.

https://www.baseballprospectus.com/news/article/55450/the-astros-offense-took-a-huge-leap-after-they-started-stealing-signs/

But despite the certainty that the Astros were stealing signs, there’s been frustratingly little confirmation that it actually helped them at the plate. Ostensibly, the scheme was limited to home games, but the Astros somehow performed better on the road. Likewise, there’s little signal that they improved more than expected from 2016 to 2017. Rather than slicing the data either of those two ways, I looked for when in 2017 the Astros first began cracking catcher codes. It turns out that the Astros offense jump-started at around the same time, suggesting that the sign-stealing scheme was extremely effective.

Image

Houston posted the fourth-biggest improvement in swinging strike rate, and the ninth-biggest improvement in swinging at likely balls, from before the sign stealing started to after (compared to other teams in the last seven years). Independently, those refinements are unlikely. But together, they are unprecedented: No team in the last seven years, 209 other rosters, has ever had both plate discipline metrics improve so rapidly and massively over the same timeframe within the same season. (The Astros also gained the 22nd-most exit velocity and the most launch angle from this point forward in the season compared to all other teams in the Statcast era.)

New details are bound to come out, but in the meantime we can tentatively conclude that their sign stealing probably had a major impact on the team’s plate discipline numbers. This was not innocent cheating that barely affected the game; according to the available data, it may have yielded an unprecedented improvement in the Astros’ ability to make contact and lay off outside pitches, helping to turn a talented lineup into one of the best-hitting teams of all time.

They got off way too easily. Should take away their international money and another two years worth of draft picks. Set that piece of **** franchise begins a decade. Also hope they get beaned the most in baseball next year.
