The buyout market doesn't look promising. Can't think of anyone who can come in and make a difference. I haven't been in this thread since the season started, but now I'm here, searching for ideas.

You can add Houston to this trade and send Iggy there for Eric Gordon. We could use a sniper like him off the bench.
The other obvious one is a Hayward for Love swap.
There are good options out there.
Even if you want to go minor and not move Hayward, you can attach some dead salary to some picks and go after guys like Jae Crowder, Hernangomez from Denver, Bertans, Ellington, Redick..Derrick Rose..just add some veteran talent to this **** bench.
Being a bit of a jv homer I like that idea alot.
I think, like you, that iggy gets flipped elsewhere though for bench scoring.

Honestly the buyout market looks 10 times better than the trade market. Been searching through the rosters and there are not many vets throughout the league with 2-3 years left on their deal and are making around $3-7 million per year. CBA wiped that out. Ainge won't give up a 1st round pick for a rental.
Buyout market is the Celtics real hope.

Celtics are not on a 1 year plan.

I'm sure Ainge is looking for a vet with a 2-3 year deal on cheap money (like he did trading Bradley for Morris) but there are just not a lot of guys out there with that kind of contract.

Yup. Agreed. I'm just hoping that Ainge can either consolidate those 3 picks this year, or at the very least, trade out of the 1st round and push those picks further down the road.

The buyout market is trash
Who is going to be bought out that chises the celtics that will actually make a difference?
Most of the players that could potentially propel this team past a 2nd round crushing are not chosing Boston.
Trade market can improve the team now and for the future.

I personally think they are. Not every team is in "title or bust" mode. Though we have no shot against Milwaukee and Philly in a 7 game series, I think Danny is very content with the roster. Maybe some minor tweaks here and there.
But Boston has young players they are excited to see develop in Jaylen and Jayson. Jayson is becoming a very marketable player for them.. They have an All Star PG in Kemba that'll keep us relevant in the East.. and a player that the coach likes being around in Gordon. Also, no attitudes that will drive our coach off the walls.

This. LA teams are way ahead of Celtics when it comes to buy-out destinations.

Agree that the LA teams will get the top buyout guys.
Disagree that there's no market for Hayward. There's a market, but don't expect a big haul. They'll need to add the MEM pick or Langford to get a starter.

Put me down for this trade: Gordon Hayward, Romeo Langford, Brad Wanamaker and the Memphis pick to Detroit for Andre Drummond, Derrick Rose and Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk.
Detroit gets the decent first rounder they've been trying to get for Drummond, plus a good young prospect. It's pretty clear they are rebuilding.
Boston gets a big body to bang with Embiid, a veteran backup pg who can score (as we saw a few night ago), and a second unit guy who shoots the three. Come playoff time, wouldn't you rather see Rose on the floor instead of Wanamaker? And the vaunted Memphis pick looks like it will convey this year and be late lottery. No great loss.

Andre Drummond is statistically the worst Embiid defender in the entire NBA. Embiid lives in his head.

Re: Trade Ideas Thread, 2019-20
I think we are undervaluing our players. People are stuck on the belief we are not title contenders. Looking at the roster we really should be. It’s on the coach to find a way to maximize our talent. We have 4 high level offensive players, a decent committee playing center and a strong defensive minded combo guard off the bench. Anybody note worthy we bring in will face the same obstacle of trying to fit into this system.
What high level guy do we trade Hayward for that will be happy with 12 shots a game? That’s what Hayward gets. Trading him for multiple-lesser players doesn’t get us closer to a title. We should use picks and whatever salary we can scrape together to get bench help, at any position cause it is clearly the weak spot.

I don't like Drummond, but I can get behind trading for DRose and Mykhailiuk.

Attach the MEM pick to Hayward for a couple of good role players that fit our need.
Why keep that pick? So that Ainge can draft another useless player? Move it on.

Drummond is 6 more hard fouls if it comes to that. You've still got Theis and Kanter (and Time Lord if he ever gets healthy). Drummond is a rental, and you live with his flaws until June. Hayward has his flaws too, and I can't see getting more for him than this.

Where's the top 10 player that every title team bar the Pistons had? Not there. Ain't a title contender. What's the way to get there? All avenues should be on the table.

This is the short-term thinking that makes you trade a number 1 pick(Kyrie) for Mo WIlliams and Jamario Moon.
Ainge has done well for all of his picks in the top 10. This narrative that he doesn't get players post-lottery is lame and doesn't understand how the draft works.

Think I saw a rumour some time ago about Clippers bring interested in Baynes? How Bout we swoop in and get Zubac.
Boston out: Theis, bucks 1st
Boston in: Zubac

Suns out: Baynes
Suns in: Theis
Clippers get Baynes + pick
Suns get a younger back-up for Ayton with one more year on his contract
Boston gets a bigger, younger starting center on a good contract
