Memphis doesn't need to tank anymore. They have their future cornerstones in Ja Morant, Jaren Jackson Jr and Brandon Clarke. They're legit. Morant especially, feels like a superstar in the making.

Hell, they wanted it to convey in the last draft, but got "UNLUCKY" and instead moved way up and got Morant.

I said it early in the season this pick ain't rolling over to next year. Ainge keeps hoarding these picks till they lose value. Hell I said the Kings pick was fool's gold.

Even now most still believe the Grizz will just fade off late in the season due to schedule. It's not happening. They'll get better.

Dillon Brooks is part of that core too. He's improved a lot and is only 24. Reminds me of a younger Wes Matthews.

This is a playoff team. Easily better than the 9-10-11 teams in the West, and better than the 7th-8th seeds in the East.

Memphis 20th win at half way point. 7 teams in the East will be under 32 wins most likely, so unless the Grizz collapse, we sure do have 3 picks this year. Whether we're for the pick this year or next,NOW we are all on the same LOSE MEMPHIS bandwagon--with hopes for an 7-11 pick, altho with their luck they could move to 2 with the 13th pick (we hoped for that last year for ourselves) It's amazing the luck of a team that doesn't give a damn.

We either need to deal a pick or 2 this season/off season for roster help or deal some of our rookies. We cant have that many young avg to below guys on roster.

Give up a pick to sac along with some bodies to pick up the shooter Bjelica. (Porier, Ojeyle and Mil pick)

Then I'd also try to do a deal with someone with either a 2nd rd pick and tie it with Edwards maybe to get Alec Burks or Glen Robinson III from GSW or possibly Mcrae from Wizards as a shooter off bench

Memphis has played more home games (24) than anyone in the league and have yet another one on Monday.

I still believe at least 3/6 teams now in 9-14 lottery spots will have a better record than Memphis:

Por
Sas
Sac
Min
Nop
Pho

Still half season left...

I agree with you with most of this
Many fans have always taken these picks to the bank as if they were high draft picks. The result of getting Tatum and Brown only stoked the fires for the third Nets lottery pick that the pick should have been untradeable.
The market wasn't and isnt there for these future picks. NBA general managers were never willing to pay what the Tatum and Brown picks turned out to be. It was and is too risky that you wind up with the Sacramento pick.
It feels like you are saying he is hoarding these picks too long. I would say these picks have never had the real value people thought they had. So therefore, while there has been far too much fanfare about getting these picks, but likewise Ainge was never going to get a lot for them.
The Nets trade was a one time thing. For it to work like it did, it required unbelievably bad decisions by the Nets. It should have netted the Celtics picks in the mid to late first round.
Ainge deservedly gets credit for the result. But there was luck involved

For sure, Memphis isn't getting into the playoffs unless all of these teams tanks. Which they might because the NBA has incentivized them to do so with the new lottery odds. I'm taking Pelicans, Spurs and Portland (especially if Nurkic returns) as most likely to overtake Memphis. 37-40 wins is going to get the 8 seed.

Celtics are getting a 1st round pick in the 11-19 range from Memphis unless they squeeze into being a non playoff team and win the lottery. Not likely.

My guess is we get 13th pick from Memphis.
26th for our own.
And 30th from bucks.
I wouldn't mind trading 13 and 26 or 30th to move up if possible. With 2 years going with the 2ways. We've had rookies in abundance past 3 years. Ainge got called on his bluffs recently and then his AD dream got screwed in what I still think is tampering. So now the assets turned into potential role players and 2 studs the j's. Imo it's time to stop drafting or signing rookies. However the rub is not a good veteran to land with picks we got. And only tradeable contactso are Hayward and smart. And I stay way away from including smart for any player. So in essence my ideal would be to add just a solid rookie instead of 3 hopefuls

Always look on the side of bright, the Celtics losing all the games means they can keep their own second rounder.

A huge win, sort of.

Pick 12 to 17, the Memphis pick does not look like being an unprotected 2021 pick.

If the Celtics traded all their picks (17, 23, 30, 44, 53) what pick could they get?

Pick 16?

A bad draft, and Memphis didn't want to help. The player you want at 5 may be there to pick at 23, it is very strange. If someone is going to pick LaMelo and his 25% from 3 in the Top 5 it is a strange draft.
