But they won't do that because it shows how incompetent the front office was to bring in a $28M/year bench player who CAN'T play with our 2 best players.

Really, this is the most logical solution to the issues here, and the one that costs us nothing. Talk to Horford and sell him on the idea of being the 6th man - he would still get his minutes, but would be on the floor with a surrounding cast that compliments what he does well. And the cherry on top is we still have the big lineup available for those matchups where it will be effective, like the Bucks and Raptors.

As you say, it won't happen because of what he's being paid, and because it will expose the idiocy of the 'bully ball' concept in today's NBA.

Even now he doesnt play with Embiid much.

It would help the end of the game unit though.

Still it is not easy to convince him to play strictly as Embiid back up. It would mean that in the playoffs he would play 10 min per game. He doesnt want that and the team doesnt want to pay close to 30 mil for that.

We urgently need 3 point shooters like Redick, Saric and Covington. Yesterday’s loss was attributed to our horrific 3 point percentages. This has been the case most of the season

Oh, I have no illusions that it has a prayer of happening. Brand and Brown made their bed when they handed Horford this contract, and now they have to sleep in it. Nope, the thinking seems to be that acquiring a 3-point shooter will solve all this teams' ills. The problems go back to the construction of this monstrosity, but for Brand to admit as much would be telling Harris that he's potentially thrown a ton of his money out the window.

True True. Before the season started do you think the FO thought this would be a problem. Or that X player/players, presently on the roster would take up the void left by Redick?

They maybe thinking right now next season 2020-2021 Ben starts shooting more and we get a 3 point specialist.

Fun fact.

Ben Simmons on court +3.6 NetRtg.

Good right?

Off court +3.7 NetRtg.

So basically we’re a little better if he’s off court hahaha

over the last 5-10 games, Simmons is playing like a top 15 player in the nba. Hope he keeps it up.

Aside from 1 or 2 no-shows in the second halves of games, Ben Simmons is playing like a star in January.

The fact that he needs Joel Embiid to be out of the equation for him to play aggressively like this is unfortunate.

Its pretty clear now that Simmons personal stats are diminished by Embiid when they share the court. Embiid gets his stats regardless.

I have no doubt that the ownership group and the front office filled with colangelo guys would rather keep Ben than Embiid if push came to shove.

Ben definitely defers to Joel on the court and it costs him personally as the ball rarely comes back

Joel is obviously a top player but the team will be much better when he develops better passing skills as he can’t do it alone

However, the main issue was him being stuck in the dunker’s spot for the better part of a year

Who ever came up with that bit of genius should have their arse kicked

Static Simmons is bog average

Simmons on the move is a mismatch for most

Try to observe this.

There is less times when Ben would cross the halfcourt deliberately slow that it’s almost valid for a 8 seconds violation when Biid is on the court.

Biid has to adjust his game to Ben, doing so is better for the team.

Ben learning to shoot wont happen this year and maybe in our lifetime.

So he had a good game against a bad team (like he mostly has against bad teams) and we're back to 'Joel has to adapt to Ben' again?

The whole team has to adapt to Ben ...

Thing is, until he has shown he can dominate against the Clippers/Lakers/Bucks/... in this world ... I would still ask myself if Ben is the guy to build a contender around.

Have patience. Within the next 1-3 seasons Simmons will start regularly shooting 3s. Then we have a better Lebron. Just have some patience people

No. Ive been saying since day 1 that Biid should lessen his post ups that is leading to less ball movement, high number of TOs and ineffective in the playoffs.

Again, we should keep putting Ben into an advantageous position that he can attack the defense (via straight up posting up guards, close to the rim PnRs with Biid or as a roll man).

The only moment Biid should consider posting up is whenever Ben is on the floor, if he is guarded by a forward or a guard or on crunch time.

Most of Biid’s career best games are whenever he is spacing the floor. He has the upside to be the best shooting big in the game.

No he doesn't, his touch is good but not elite. Embiid will never be an elite 3pt shooter. Maybe he can improve it a bit idk.
Y'all guys just want to adhere to the modern NBA and so force Embiid to abandon what he does the best.

Yes. Because im concern with what this TEAM DO BEST than what EMBIID DO BEST. If it means Embiid has to be Brook lopez on offense for us to win a championship; then so be it.

I'm not sure that's due to a playing style incompatibility, however, versus Simmons's compelling himself mentally to compensate for Embiid's absence.

What we need is both of them on the court, with Simmons playing like he has been lately, and Embiid playing like he did against Milwaukee on Christmas.

However, you want what Simmons does best, but we are not applying the same with Embiid, why? you are basically saying Simmons has to do the things he is better at and just forget or minimize his time spent at shooting, while at the same time, Embiid has to be forced to space the floor and minimize his time spent on what he does best.

I 100% agree that Ben needs to prove he can play at a high level vs good teams in the playoffs. But can you say anyone on this team has proven they can do that?

I have no clue what the solution for this team is, but I’m certainly willing to keep an open mind. Personally I want to see a new coach with a new 1/2 court scheme come in before I deem Ben and Jo 100% aren’t capable of playing together. But if it comes down to trading 1 of them Im not convinced either way at this point. We’ve seen the team without Jo, but I’m curious as to how this team would look like if Ben were to miss an extended period of time.
