Miami is 9-0 in overtime

Post#1 » by BigDocta898 » Thu Jan 23, 2020 3:58 am

This is a ridiculous stat and must be some sort of record.

I think this team is due to drop back in the standings a bit they are not good on the road let's face it winning 9 overtime games is great but those are games that could easily of been lost in regulation or OT

I expect them to finish in 4th or 5th with philly Boston Toronto getting healthier

This is the NBA version of 1-run wins in baseball.

Damn, that's nuts - just getting to 9 overtime games is crazy. Most of the time betting on a game even getting to overtime gets you +700 to +1100 odds.

If you threw $100 on each Miami game to even get to overtime (regardless of record), you'd be up $2500 - $4000

Suggests that their record greatly overstates their actual ability. Overtime games are effectively a coin-flip. You'd expect a team to get 4.5 wins from 9 OT games. They are currently the 2nd seed in the East but accounting for luck and they are closer to the 5th or 6th seed.

We are 20-1 at home, personally I think its a "don't play us in OT at home" thing

Because they are required to be on career best condition. And when they’re in OT, they’re likely to have more endurance than the opposing team.
There’s never been a time in history when we look back and say that the people who were censoring free speech were the good guys.

Its a good sign for the playoffs imo. Generally teams that can step it up and win ot games are mentally tough and know how to play defense when it matters.

i believe otherwise, mental toughness is when you dont let your offense to sag that low that your opponent can make a run at you and steal it from you.mental toughness is about being focused and not lose or overestimate your opponent. this team is prone to have turd quarters and playoff bounded teams will surely take advantage of their slumps or droughts

I mean to each their own but I think that's sort of a glass half empty way to see things as a fan.

I am a fan of the team, but it's tough to make a claim the team is mentally tough when the starters allow the Wizards to outscore them 26-6 in the beginning of the third quarter. The factor that differentiates our team most from the others is our coach. Spo has been fundamental in managing the team on court and off. Witness how James Johnson has become decisive since coming back. That's on Spo (with an assist from Pat Riley.)

i agree it takes effort to make it to overtime but why not make the effort in to winning the game in regulation in the first place.also i'm okay if you disagree with me. you have a point too but the playoffs will really tell the real tale about the miami heat so lets wait for and while at it lets enjoy the ride.it has been fun so far 8-)
