ESPN manages to find a way to screw up even this. It's disgusting.

Did they really? No way they did. Way too classless.

I hope not

if they did then wow.....anything for more clicks

Brian Shaw in tears talking about Kobe on NBA TV, really moving stuff. There’s gonna be a lot of that today. Austin Rivers in tears on the court doing warmups.

Born, raised and developed his game here in Philly. We booed him plenty. But it's a loss in the family. Heart out to Jellybean and loved ones.

I don't think his daughters were on board.

ps: I can't believe they're not cancelling the games, it's the bare minimum, show some decency.

This makes no sense. You don't interrupt the whole schedule for the season because a icon died, the broadcasters, reports, referee, etc all still have to work for a living. The TV line up, players, and all have a set schedule. This isn't like cancelling a trip to the movie. It takes a lot of money and effort to host an NBA game. They will definitely do sometime to honor him before the game, a moment of silence or a tribute film.

RIP KB.

This has to be the biggest tragedy in pro sports history right? I honestly cant think of anything that compares outside the Marshall plane crash, which was sadly more deaths but nowhere near the icon Kobe was.

only roberto clemente comes to mind.

for those that don't know clemente, he was a hall of fame outfielder. died in plane crash while delivering earthquake relief supplies in nicarauga (clemente was puerto rican).

similar on many fronts. clemente was a known humanitarian who would have had an important life beyond baseball. and he was even closer to the game when he died. had just collected his 3000 hit in the last game of the season and died a few months later. he was 38.

You will not find anyone who likes the Lakers or KB less than I.

This is bigger than basketball.

He was someone’s son and someone’s father and they need him and he’s gone too soon.

RIP champ.

man just shaking a bit here.

This is beyond a tragedy, while we would never with this on anyone, Kobe was one of the athletes who's second chapter was supposed to be special. While many athletes it seems couldn't move beyond basketball, I expected big things from kobe. He was brilliant, ambitious, and yet you could tell he still wanted to be an ambassador for the league.

We've really had a lot of potential greatness stolen from us today.

this doesnt make sense was Kobe flying then? there were 5 ppl on board

That's the only way the math adds up but I don't think he would bring newborn on a helicopter? Hopefully his daughters were not on the plane.

So glad to hear his daughters were not on the helicopter. It's tragic, but that would have been just terrible. So sad.

I'm speechless.
This is a total gut punch. So tragic ... and only 41 years old.
