Absolute tragic news. The NBA is so fortunate because many of it's legends are still around. Well, we lost one today, well before his time. Horrible, though he will be dearly missed, his impact on the sport will never fade. Rest in peace.

Same. I really can’t hold back my tears. Part of my childhood man. It’s like a family member died.

No man, I can't believe this. It's like a part of me gone with Kobe. I don't want to believe this!

Even as a fan of a rival team Kobe was part of my childhood and adolescence.

He’s the reason I’m as big of a NBA/Laker fan as I am. This is unbelievable in a way. Rest In Peace, stud.

Been on this site since 98, but it was 81 that finally got me to eventually register a real account. I hope his family is safe

I can honestly say that the death of someone I’ve never met has never left me as heartbroken as Kobe’s passing. This has got me shook hard.

No idea what to say. Kobe was a legend, both as a Laker and a human being I could always look up to.

RIP Kobe. I will never ever forget you.

Heartbreaking. I truly hope the reports of his daughters being onboard aren't true. Regardless, this is devastating.

I keep reading conflicting reports that his four kids were on board. I really hope that isn't true.

I can’t think of a death of a public figure that is this shocking and just hits everyone the way this does

This is like losing a family member.
