Broken nose award because guys actually wanted to compete against him. Even at an all-star game. So different than now.

No, and this is coming from a Laker fan. Put some respect on Jerry West's name. He will always be Logo.

If it is changed it should be changed to this in a silloutte form. Feels similar to the current with a modern flair.

My opinion matters because I'm woke.

Why do we always have to do this kind of crap when someone dies? All this would do is cause people to bicker.

There will be plenty of honoring of Bryant.

I for one think it would be fitting. Just sad that if it were to happen, it's based on this tragedy. But it's also a tribute to one of the greatest players in NBA History.

Great idea. Also, considering so many other trophies already have names, this would be a dope nod to one of the godfathers of the modern NBA game. Plus Kobe has some iconic dunks and flexes.

There is no record, nor has the NBA ever publicly commented on whether the long held belief that Jerry West may be the logo is actually true.

The logo is meant to represent the league, so why should this change be made?

It's not West's logo for him to turn over.

You're actually wrong.

Not to get too philosophical, but we live in the greatest time in the history of the Earth, and we could have never gotten here unless for the trillion and trillion of changes that happened, all them being positive. Sure maybe some change could be labelled "bad" in the short term, but when look at the longer term, that "bad" short term change was actually "good" because it resulted in a "good" change after all. Hence, that short term change was really "good".

Name one change that you consider terrible and after much reasoning, you'll see that it was actually good after all.

Kobe would never accept this if he was alive so why do it when he’s dead?

Seriously, the OP is very ignorant with a post like that considering the respect Kobe Bryant has for Jerry West. He was like a father figure to him. He guided him as a young man and helped give him insight to become the man he was till the end. Do you honestly think Kobe would ever disrespect Jerry by taking the honor or the logo away from him? Dumb idea. Find another one.

I'm an amateur philosopher at best, but I really want to hear your justification for "all changes are positive" outlook.

I'm not gonna give you the "look where we are now" as some kind of ends-justify-the-means reason, and I'm certainly not going to give you "a longer term outlook makes every change good eventually", because that's just ridiculous.

Bad stuff, like MLK getting shot or Kobe dying in a copter crash, happen every day. Sure, some good may come from those events eventually, but even more good might have come if those events didn't happen. To label the actual version a "good change" when the alternatives aren't even available to be judged is both unfair and silly.

Change happens, yes. Always and unstoppably. But sometimes it's tragic and bad and that's undeniable.

kobe isnt squeaky clean remember. It might not be a good time to bring up his past mistakes. but if you are talking about using his image to represent an entire league for the fore-see-able decades, his trial/ extramarital affair has to come into consideration.

No, I think the shock, anger and confusion leads people to make sort knee jerk decisions to feel like they're doing something about such sad events.

No issue with something being done to remember kobe, whether it's a season long thing to honour him or if the NBA is going to become involved in a charity Kobe was involved in, but to change the logo seems a sort of arbitary thing to do and doesn't really make sense in any sort of context.

They've been talking about changing the logo for years now. Losing Kobe so young to tragedy feels worthy of something big, especially when so many OG legends are still kicking.

I get that he is polarizing and there are lots of great players deserving but it would be an amazing tribute to Kobe's contributions to the NBA.

No. A rapist should not be the Logo of the league.
