we're pretty banged up for this one, it'll be interesting to see how we handle their backcourt.

Brogdon confirmed out with concussion. Myles our with illness; I assume the same one that held Sampson, Leaf, and Goga our from the GS game.

Toronto pulled out a win late but Boston lost. A win would put us percentage points behind Boston
Myles and Goga sick. Not sure if Leaf and Sampson sick or hurt, but they're out.
Edit only Myles and Brogdon out. Others back. Sampson to start per coach on pregame.

Oh, well. Hard to beat an all star back court without your best two guards.

Especially when we just haven’t won in Portland since 207, I believe, at baseline.

Under Nate McMillan, ironically.

We're definitely vulnerable to hot 3 point shooters. JMichael tweeted that it was an affect of Myles absence as it caused more doubling in the paint. maybe, but it has been a consistent issue all year long. we only seem to be able to counter by getting hot ourselves. would Vic have made a difference? he could certainly have stayed in front of his man, but when 30 foot 3's are going in, I don't know that any defense works.

I don't think that is a problem for only the Pacers. It is what the league has evolved to and what it has become. We rank 11th in the NBA in defending the 3. Not great but certainly not awful. And are defending it better than we did last year.

Yeah, like the GSW game, we defend the 3 well, but the super long 3’s are just super tough no matter who you are. Defend them too well and you open yourselves to jab steps and drives down the lane. It’s part of the new NBA as P_F above me said. It’s not just that you shoot 3’s, it’s that you can stretch the court even further by shooting LOONG 3’s.

which is why Myles defending the rim matters. he allows others to guard the perimeter tighter.

Exactly. And his ability to keep his balance now while striding and sliding with guys down the lane. He doesn't have to funnel them to the rim to get a block attempt, but he does a great job of keeping with and altering, or scaring, shots anywhere in the middle.

Those Dame logo 3s are just unfair man
But yes, this is one way Myles impacts the game, by allowing his teammates to play closer to their opponents
