Something, doesn't come from nothing
What is, was
What was, always will be
My thoughts & prayers for those involved.
Memphis continue to win despite getting 2 different whistles. Booker recognized the favor & as a result, he flops late in the game to get Jaren ejected long after he misses his 3pt attempt. This bull call not only takes out Jaren in the crunch but puts Booker on the line for 2 free shots, to make it a one possession game.
Marko, you are the weak link. He was the Suns best player 2nd quarter. Anyone else & Memphis would have opened a considerable lead into the half. He gave the team nothing on both ends with Yuta sitting end of bench.
Between Memphis trying to give the game away from the 2nd quarter on with their many unforced TO's & the refs trying to steal it, I don't know how the Suns managed to lose. They appear to be a much better team with Baynes spacing than with Ayton in the paint, so it's no surprise their losing has coincided with his return from injury. This team that had need for a PG, passed on both Doncic & Young, that's rough & what makes it worse, is they're going to try & justify their choice instead of rectifying it.
Memphis played solid defense for the most part which was encouraging but their sloppy offensive play was beyond maddening. What was it? 21 TO's, mostly being unforced mistakes. They gifted the Suns many possessions where they should have won easily. A good team would have made them pay. I don't blame them however for the cheap offensive fouls, that was the refs trying to keep the Suns in the game.
Good thing the crowd made it known with their boos, it put the necessary pressure on them to make the correct call. For a minute, I was sure they were going to gift Oubre on that last possession.

Last year when Memphis traded Gasol at the 56 game mark, they had 22 wins. This win puts Memphis at 22 in 46 games, 10 games in hand of that trading point after a slow start, with a new coach, young players & system.
Progression
5-11 in November
8-8 in December
9-3 in January, with 3 more games in the month. (Denver, Knicks, NO's)
After a slow start, the team is steadily improving. Currently sitting a game & a half up on the Spurs for 8th, 2 games out of 500.
Jenkins should be in the running for coach of the year.

This team is good. Where it has me keep coming back to the idea of targeting Dieng & Covington to help bolster the teams depth & defense, If Josh's call up is not in the cards.
Covington is excellent at defending the 3pt line, where Memphis has struggled all year. Doesn't hurt he also shoots the 3 ball better than Crowder.
Dieng would be a nice defensive depth option behind Jonas & Jaren's foul issues, where he also doesn't hurt your team offensively. Grizz can use that quality big man depth, especially if they end up facing LA first round.
(Iggy, Hill (24m expiring) Utah or GS FRP) for (Dieng Covington).
What ever pick Memphis might have to give up. Covington has player value on a value contract. He's retained value, where he can be flipped at any point over 3 seasons of control for potentially an equal or better return while providing court value in the short term.

Glad to see Jevon Carter having minutes. He played pretty well. I loved it when he came out for Rubio in the clutch time.
Another great game by morant. JJJ woke up at the very end. Slowmo with the D stop and 2 clutch freethrows.
I joined the Grizznation 19 years ago, however, I always cheered for the Lakers when we were not in the playoffs. Kobe was the reason. I started to watch the NBA in 1998, so I cant talk about MJ. Kobe is the greatest Ive ever watched. RIP

Like all the greats before him, Kobe was bigger than the game itself, a true influence & legend of the sport. His star was too bright to ever be forgotten.
May his family find peace & comfort in their loss.
RIP 24

Marko has been bad this year, but I'll give him a pass this game. He was really torn up about Kobe before the game plus the pressure of this being one of his few shots to prove himself led to an unfavorable situation. I kinda excuse all the turnovers as well due to the team grieving.
Ja came through in the 4th and JJJ had a solid game. If we don't move Crowder before the deadline, I wish we'd have him come off the bench. I love his mentorship but his on court game is yeesh.

The majority of teams and the ppl globally who were fans of Kobe took a helleva of shell-shock on yesterday. It was unfathomable to hear that his life, his daughter, and the seven victims lost their lives to just a tragic accident. Kobe was a NBA icon for the ages. Like Micheal Jordan, Kobe Bryant was as close to Jordan as he could ever be. It took me a long time to realize that due to my ties as a Magic fan who dealt with Shaq leaving the team for the Lakers back in 1996(Yes, I was a Laker hater for eight years).
What changed the way I looked at Kobe was the scandal he put himself through. The situation help humanize him that he is an individual who happens to be a basketball player and a great one as he would turn out to be. Slowly and surely, my dislike for Kobe would fade overtime. I would grow to respect Kobe for his skills set, drive and is relentless nature to be the best NBA competitor the NBA has seen since the days of Micheal Jordan.
Kobe will be missed by family, friends, and fans alike.
His daughter Gianna will be missed by her family and friends.
The other victims will be missed by their family and friends as well.
Rest in Paradise all Around.
