Srsly? Tragedies can bring out the best and most vulnerable and compassionate traits in people. I probably wouldn’t have tweeted publicly but their feud was made public so I guess he figured he’d try to mend it publicly.

Cut the guy some slack.

I’ll leave it here - this thread is about giving respect and remembering the mamba. One of his brotherhood and contemporaries during his era - one of very few people on the planet are a part of it - chose to reach out to a former teammate in an apparent attempt to heal in this most painful of times for them more than anyone besides Kobe’s loved ones and personal friends. Was it genuine? Who knows? But Perk is alot closer to the situation than you’ll ever be. Maybe just think about that before you start casting aspersions on players secret intentions.

If you feel so strongly about honoring Kobe why are you making this a topic of discussion then? Don't respond 2 or 3 times then try to take the high ground and act like you didn't contribute. Maybe you like what Perk did because you're cut from the same cloth, that's not our fault.

it really show's you life isn't promised and to make everyday count. such a tough loss for all of the families involved and fans across the world. i wouldn't take shots at the pilot though. we don't know how experienced he was or wasn't. it is just a terrible tragedy

I am curious, do the new generation NBA fans know much about him or those who are 35+ 40+ like us know his value much more?

I'm born in 94 and Kobe was one of the players who got me interested in playing/watching basketball along with Vince Carter. I actually think that age bracket is the sweet spot for people who grew up as young kids watching and idolizing Kobe. Fred VanVleet is also born in 94 and summed it up perfectly:

I agree, if the flying conditions were so bad that the police had their choppers on the ground then I can't blame the pilot(RIP).

I know it's not healthy to do this, but if the damn pilot had just heeded the warnings about the fog, none of this would of happened. Other helicopter services were suspended because of it, including the police. The guy was given authorization after requesting to fly anyway, but why didn't he, a pilot of 20+ years think "hey maybe this isn't a good idea?".

Just speculating here but it's possibly one of those "I've done this before, it's not a big deal" type of things. Also, his 20+ years may have actually given him a sense of invincibility, maybe a newer pilot would've been more reluctant to fly through that kind of fog.

Apparently this wasnt even the biggest problem.

He could just ask for IFR and and fly controllers would guide him safely. But many pilots dont like to do this because they dont like to give up control.

Drove by DTLA today for my work commute and saw the lakers colors off on multiple buildings. Driving on the 110 early in the morning when the sun hasn’t rose yet mixed with la traffic and seeing those colors made me feel some type of way man....like the whole city is forced to move on with our daily lives but there’s this emptiness there.


I can’t stress it enough for people who don’t live in LA....in a city of stars, Kobe was THAT guy for us. He was the biggest star of them all, and more importantly, he was our city’s hero. There’s a sense of sorrow in the city right now that you can legit feel. Even in my workplace, filled with a bunch of tech hipsters and who probably have never picked up a basketball..


The city will recover and we all naturally move on, and I know it sounds crazy to say when you factor in the relatively small scale of it in the grand picture of things, but I’m not sure if LA has collectively been affected this much by one event.

I wouldn’t be surprised how much Kobe may have had a say it making sure they made it to his kids game on time. He was a great father and a great competitor. There’s too many variables or what ifs to blame a pilot or blame Kobe and it won’t make any of us or their families feel any better. God /life works In so many perplexing mysterious ways and bad things - terrible things happen to good people and it sucks.
