Lebron, Jordan, Messi, Tiger, Federer.
There are a few but not many.
You can also throw in Usain Bolt, Serena Williams, Kylian Mbappé etc.
no, no and no
Yeah respect to them and all but including those three really does a disservice to just how big Kobe was to be honest. In terms of being a global icon, influencing and inspiring millions of kids and hell even adults, as well as impacting wider culture, Jordan, Messi, Ronaldo, and maybe LeBron are really the only guys who compare. It's not just about career earnings or even name recognition. And Jordan is a fair bit older and has been out of the spotlight for a while whereas Kobe has seemed to be in the prime of his life with the way his second act was going, so even MJ's death wouldn't have had the same reaction imo as huge as it would've been. Once you factor in the way it went down, being a tragic completely unexpected accident, and the fact that his daughter, the one who was supposed to carry on the Mamba legacy, died with him...it all just compounds to create something unfathomably devastating.
