I don’t know how long it is going to take to move on from this.

Basketball won’t be the same anymore.
USA Celtics in full effect. Amazing chemistry building experience right there for the main core of the team

Proceeds to finish 7th and shames the entire nation!

The timing is completely hollywood.

The passing of the torch, the burden to carry a living tribute to your idol who just congratulated you for passing him in points scored while playing for his team.

The playoffs are going to be super emotional win or lose

I agree, I don't want to watch a game right now.

Wasn't going to share this but feeling like it's nice to share some personal memories on the Lakers board.

I was lucky enough to go the Dallas-Lakers game a few weeks ago at Staples. I was sitting like 10 metres from Kobe and Gigi. It was their last appearance at a game together I believe.

This is a pretty special photo, you can see standing in front of the lineup for the national anthem as it was beginning, one ray of light to the top right and the 24 on the shot clock to the left.

^yeah you cant write it better than that...
watching Lebron's 5 min talk about his relationship w Kobe and how much he respects him was so eerie, bc it seemed like it was done in eulogy. But it was the night before the accident. and if we win the championship.. wow..what a storyline. Kobe's , Lebron's , Dwight's , Rondo coming full circle (of all the teams he could have won it for, he did it for Lakers which is very ironic), Vogel, Jeanie, etc
Kobe Bryant forever
GO LAKERS
8-)
I've heard it through the grapevine..NBA gods have already designated Los Angeles LAKERS as NBA Champions in near future. The destiny is real. TRUST ME.

Yep and I can imagine any player in a buyout would join them to help push the Lakers over the line. Iggy and Collison, I can't imagine these guys choose any other team.

Anyone else feeling like there's a huge cloud over the city today?

i expected me and my fellow laker fans to be this affected by yesterday's tragedy, but to see the whole city affected like this is a little more than I expected.

I wrote a post on the GB about this earlier today, but I want to share it here to see if anyone else felt like I did today. It was surreal driving on the 110 this morning before the sun was up and seeing so many buildings in DTLA illuminating laker colors.

I live downtown and everyone looks distraught. I still don't get it. This just does not seem real. I just don't get it.

Everyone at work was just down the whole day. Puffy eyes everywhere. People I don’t even know giving you a head nod or a head shake, bringing everyone together.

Didn't think I'd be affected this much by the passing of someone I never even met. 24 hours later and I'm still pretty emotional about it. I'm not known to be an emotional person. This is definitely a first for me. I grew up watching Kobe. There are so many layers to this pain I'm feeling right now... the passing of Kobe and his daughter, the pain his family will endure for the rest of their lives, how much his family must feel cheated to have waited all these years to finally have the opportunity to spend quality time with him, awful timing, etc. As someone who has 3 daughters of my own, this definitely hits close to home. I honestly think I'll be taking a break from basketball for a bit. It's a sobering reminder that we could be taken away from our love ones at any moment and without notice.

I’m Not Ready but here I go. Man I sitting here trying to write something for this post but every time I try I begin crying again just thinking about you, niece Gigi and the friendship/bond/brotherhood we had! I literally just heard your voice Sunday morning before I left Philly to head back to LA. Didn’t think for one bit in a million years that would be the last conversation we’d have. WTF!! I’m heartbroken and devastated my brother!! Man I love you big bro. My heart goes to Vanessa and the kids. I promise you I’ll continue your legacy man! You mean so much to us all here especially #LakerNation and it’s my responsibility to put this **** on my back and keep it going!! Please give me the strength from the heavens above and watch over me! I got US here! There’s so much more I want to say but just can’t right now because I can’t get through it! Until we meet again my brother!! #Mamba4Life #Gigi4Life

I can't even imagine what it's like downtown... I'm in OC and I swear, every siren I hear, somehow I think it's for Kobe.

There's been a ton of them too... I been jumping at each one.

Yeah, if you told me Kobe was going to die and I was going to be upset for 2 days over it, I'd have laughed at you... I'm too old, seen too much, and was never really that huge a Kobe fan... But something about this just hit me. Maybe it's what Colin Cowherd talked about... The fact Kobe pretty much grew up in front of us. It'd be corny as hell to say he was like family...
But he was...

For example... My wife never watched a single lakers game with me... She tried a couple times but I get too intense... She couldn't tell you anything about any of his best games or anything he did on the court... When she saw the headline, she was screaming.
First thing she said to me this morning was about Kobe... And she's still talking about it. She's tough as nails but she grew up in East LA and I think this is just an LA thing whether or not you liked basketball.

It was a killer day for me work wise today. Didn't have time to do anything other than react.... Kind of set this aside. Then I got in the car to come home and it's still wall to wall on the PHX sports radio I was tuned to. Needless to say I'm back to where I was yesterday emotionally. Still in disbelief.

I cant believe it. The Basketball world doesnt feel like it will ever be the same with Kobe gone.

How could you not respect Mamba mentality... and being a "girl dad" myself I loved the support he was giving women's basketball.

This tragedy has effected me so much. Poor Gigi.
