Was watching the Mavs/Thunder game yesterday. Delon Wright is a kind of a guy you need on a team. He is not a star but he has that energy, instinct for rebounding. He is like a smaller version of Rodman. I hope Dunn develops into such a player. He definitely can and will be in demand. With all the 3 pt shooting in the league, guard rebounding is crucial with so many clanks.

Michael Porter Jr has looked really good in January. Averaging 15ppg off the bench. He really fell into the perfect scenario.

And yet all anyone can talk about is his weight. Sad. Nobody cares about the actual game anymore, the NBA is just a reality show.
Speaking of weight... it's clear he's out of shape (who expected anything else?), but he also looks fatter than ever. I mean, compare the current Zion with how he looked as a HS senior. The difference is literally mind boggling. IMO he shouldn't even be playing before he's dropped 30 pounds. For starters. It's so weird they're risking his surgically repaired knee like this.
Zion is obviously a guy who picks up weight (and muscle) lightning fast. His metabolism is ridiculous. He has the body type where you can't even look at junk food. It'll absolutely be a career-long battle for him, and when he retires he'll balloon to 350 pounds in two months.

almost everyone who genuinely battles weight problems as a young adult had the same issues as a kid, no? i don't think there's some innate metabolism problem here

harden out with injury last night and they sit westbrook because it's a back-to-back. wtf? they should be playing westbrook AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE when harden is not on the floor. play him 12 minutes a game when harden is in the lineup if you want. give him his rest then

I didn't say there's something wrong with his metabolism... it is what it is. But he needs to be extra careful with what and how he eats. I also think he should stay out of the weight room for now.
IMO this is probably his ideal playing weight/body. He's already huge and strong, but not too heavy. He waddles when he walks, but it's not nearly as bad as these days.

The first thing I thought when I saw Zion this weekend was "Man, he's fat." Not surprising, he had a knee injury where he couldn't much move and he's prone to gaining weight. But the Pels have to put a stop to that. Get him on a strict diet. The kid is only 19, if he's like this now and doesn't change his habits, he'll be waddling on the court pretty soon.

That was absolutely my biggest concern with him going into the lotto. It’s why had the Bulls got 1 I was all for Ja, well that and I really liked Ja.
Zion’s size is really worrisome for a young guy. There’s been a ton of guys in the NBA that came in... big, and after 5-6 years were completely different players as their bodies matured, metabolism slowed, and pounds started adding up.
I hope, for him, and as a fan of the NBA, Zion can find a good weight and training/diet regimen that keeps him physically able to excel for many many seasons because the guy is fun to watch and has a feel for the game that screams of greatness.... but I am concerned about him from a physical standpoint

I remember how Wright played well against the Bulls in 2017,he came from the bench for Toronto and since then I have been following him, watched Mavs/Jazz last saturday .He played well in this game even losing it .

I see that Spencer Dinwiddie and Terrence Ross changed their numbers from 8 to something else to honor Kobe.
I wonder if anyone else would follow suit?
Think Zach or Lauri would change their number?

Personally, I think a player on another team wearing a number in honor of another player does more to keep that players memory alive than players not wearing, or teams retiring that number.
It’s not like national broadcasts are showing numbers that are retired or explaining why a player doesn’t wear a number... whereas you do hear things like “he wears that number in honor of.....”

Even scrubs often have some backstory that announcers hit on as a feel good story.
The scrub wearing the number and at some point having it pointed out that he wears the number in honor of Kobe, which even 40 years from now leads into a story of Kobe and his exploits does more for a memory of a player than not ever seeing that number on an NBA court.
It’s not as if the broadcast team will mention years from now, Brian Scalarine the 5th wears number 9 because number 8 has been officially (or unofficially) retired in honor of Kobe Bryant.
How often do sports viewers sitting at home get a view of retired jersey numbers and a backstory on those who wore those numbers?

I'm good with either scenario TBH. Ppl honor their heroes in different ways and if they want to continue to wear 8/24, cool run with it. If they don't, I'm good with that too. That goes for guys 1-12 on the team.
KC: Do you still think you're a championship-caliber team?
Gar: I never said that and correct me if I'm wrong.
KC: You were asked that question at the news conference announcing Thibodeau's dismissal and you answered yes

Thinks it is bad to a Bulls fan? Try the Twolves. Not only an always poor team with no history, but last night they blew a 17 point lead with 3 minutes left in the game. Even the Bulls don't do that.

I read that in 8000+ times that has happened in the NBA where a team has a lead that big, that late, none had ever lost. Effectively, the only team that could do that would be Minnesota.
Man they are terrible. I would stay far, far away from Towns.

I don't trust teams that are built solely through the draft, because ownership tends to get too locked into its players. Towns and Wiggins are perfect examples. Towns is a french fry. There's some nutrition underneath the surface, because he's an efficient scorer and a rebounder, but there's a lot of surface oil too. Wiggins is a potato chip. He's nothing but empty calories.
Under normal circumstances, if you have a french fry and a potato chip as your two foundational players, you recognize the problem and trade one of them (along with some other assets) for a baked potato. You can't live on junk food alone. But because these guys were high Minnesota draft picks, #1s no less, the Wolves can't face the possibility. They feel locked into their decision.
So they suck, year after year after year.

The one great thing about the wolves. Ya there are only 10 people in the crowd, but ticket prices are cheap again. Before Butler, I could get tickets for $12-15 for big games like the warriors. Then Butler came and tickets went up to like 50-60 for the cheapest. Now they are back down to that 12-15 range. Its great. Then just move to the lower bowl after half or something.
