I can’t stop thinking about what happened every chance I get. It hurts but I can’t stop myself. Still feels surreal that this event actually happened.

I thought I was doing better until I watched the TNT pregame and overtime.

I feel too many lives were endangered and this horrible accident was utterly preventable with even a small decision. As much as I want to believe that a pilot has final say on whether they can fly, not many pilots have high-profile celebrity clients who in this case was very well versed with this method of transport. Ultimately, Kobe and the pilot were responsible for others in this circumstance, and principally everyone were advised not to fly. Not to be dreary, but I feel it could be a matter of time before there is some type of lawsuit against his estate after the dust settles, primarily due to the lives endangered on his property. Just a horrible tragedy, and poor children suffered as well.

This is stupid no one held a gun to the other passengers’ heads and told them they had to ride a private helicopter to the game. Also you knew what you were doing by posting this.

The second you said “I don’t want to upset anyone, but” is the equivalent of “no offense, but...says something offensive” and I had to look at your post history...and well no surprise there.

Wade said that he and LeBron just wanted Kobe to be proud of them.

But the media wanted to pit them against Kobe.

But they really just wanted Kobe to be proud of them because they admired him so much.

Can we just let that be the end of the player comparisons between these guys??

There's so much respect and love. And they are not the same era.

Both the Shaq and Jerry West interviews were so devastating to watch.

Thinking of what Kobe's mangled body looks like is a very dark and disturbing thought that I'd prefer to leave alone.

Player comparisons is more annoying than anything. Lebron looked up to Kobe you can hear it when he talks about him..Sure when he talks about MJ he's talking about what he did and how good he was. BUT when he talks about Kobe he lights up..I've seen it on multiple interviews..Now people will say he does that because he's a laker etc..But Lebron admired Kobe i have no doubt about that.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Helicopters/comments/eubkbf/kobe_bryant_dies_in_california_helicopter_crash/

Yahoo Poster who claims to be a helicopter pilot (42yrs flying in 6 different countries) posted this - - admitted speculation on his part :

pilot was scud running in hills with cloud on the ground and clipped a hill top hard, spinning down into the canyon. Pictures of impact area show a very hard high speed impact with the bird shredded into small pieces. Hot dog pilot pushing VFR flight in IFR conditions. Radar track shows him quickly going from 2300ft to 1200ft trying to squeeze between the ground and the cloud. This has killed lots of over confident helicopter pilots, and fixed wing pilots as well.

Controlled Flight Into Terrain. That is when a pilot flys a perfectly operation bird into the ground in bad weather.

Many other pilots have said similar. Damn.

Going off what we know (or that I know, from reading these threads to be more accurate)

- They were trying to get above the fog
- They ran into a mountain
- Helicopter didn't have terrain awareness system
- High energy impact

I'd say its likely they didn't see the mountain coming, or if they did it was in the last few seconds. They probably died instantly due to the impact. So, if there is a silver lining in this its that they didn't suffer and hopefully they didn't see it coming either.

To help come to terms and reconcile with it, I thought of it as a cremation, the fire took over 30 minutes to clear out. Magnesium is a *****.

I hear what you are saying 100%, but ultimately it is the nature of sports. Comparisons and pitting players, even teammates, against each other will never stop.
