This is pretty nuts, and gives a good understanding of why there's been months of anxiety for a lot of us over here- it just comes so quickly (this footage is nowhere near me, major fire activity gracefully calmed down in my area a couple of weeks ago).

I've graduated from Claire's Gourmet Makes vids to the rest of the Bon Appetite team and I think I've watched six straight hours of Thanksgiving videos today, sprinkled in with some homemade dry aging of steak.

Andy's series, which I'm not sure it has a name (maybe 'Andy cooks?'), is my favorite behind Gourmet Makes. It features truly diverse food, which is awesome. He goes to a restaurant focused on a particular nationality's cuisine, learns about it and how to make several dishes, then comes back to the kitchen to recreate.

Although as I say this, it's hard to not have It's Alive among my top 2.

Stopped in Rockford first weekend as I was passing through. 6-7 hour wait for a very limited selection. Rumor has it they’re still long waits with little to nothing in terms of selection and prices (and taxes) are super high.

It's a bit surprising that they're not more prepared for this. A lot of these shops are former medicinal spots, so it's not like it's starting from scratch. I know the demand is going to be muuuuuuuuuch higher but they had a year's notice. Apparently some spots are going to open up in South Beloit, too.

I'd just encourage people making that commute not to give the Wisconsin cops parked at the border a reason to pull you over and search you. They can't just pull you over for no reason and search you, but if you're breaking a traffic law, get pulled over for that reason, and they can manufacture probable cause to search, they will if they have reason to believe you're bringing illegal substances across state lines. Don't be an idiot.

Jesus. I went to RISE in Mundelein on the 2nd, 3 hour wait, which I didn't think was terrible considering it was the 2nd day.

The selection/prices are comedy, though. $65-$70 for an 8th before the ridiculous 30% tax is more criminal than it being illegal.

Most of their good/top-shelf stuff they still reserve/save for med patients. Looking at menu's online for certain spots, recreational menu's are like 10% the size of the medicinal menus. Hopefully they get caught up and more dispensaries open by Summer.
