Wow. that makes this even worse if so because it really didn't have to happen.
it only happened because the guy took a risk he didn't need to just to impress his client.

this coulld get ugly with lawsuits if they can prove that.

would you lawyer up if you were a surviving family?

This is unfortunately what I was referring to on past posts when people said “it’s the pilots job just to say no if the weathers bad” - that’s right on paper and in a perfect world Sadly however these guys don’t wanna loss their job and the clients who pay them don’t want to hear the word “no” or “not possible”.

I’ve seen it so many times where people do things out of their comfort zone to keep a job, please an employer or maintain relationships and I’ve seen it happen more when that person who pays them is a celeb or in a position of power.

he absolutely should have said no if the weather is bad but he also didn’t want to lose his job and honestly people take risks every day that they shouldn’t. Whether it be driving through the orange lights and not stopping at a red, driving too fast, not buckling a seat belt or not wearing a helmet on a motorcycle, recreational drug use etc.

this was a horrible tragedy and yes on the surface the pilot does look like he made mistakes and obviously because we lost 9 people tragically - he at least in some capacity is to blame but I really think without a blackbox, without knowing past flight experiences with Kobe and so many variables it’s too hard to just focus on what he did wrong.

It’s just a sad terrible thing any way you look at and also way more complicated than people think

The weird thing is that Kobe’s previous pilot said he had never once felt pressure from Kobe to fly when he shouldn’t. That Kobe was very safety conscious as well.

Meanwhile this particular pilot had a stellar safety record himself.

I don’t know, I tend to believe one of two things happened. Either A) The pilot severely underestimated the fog in that part of LA and became disoriented. Maybe the fog was manageable in Newport but got worse as he travelled north. I do not understand though why he was traveling at such a high rate of speed if that disoriented...why not slow the chopper way down? Or B) He was having some sort of episode and wasn’t in the right frame of mind. Maybe a combination of the two, really hard to say. I don’t really think it was a mechanical issue because of the lack of communication with the tower.

But really who knows at this point or if we will ever know.

I do one or more of those things, sure, but if I have children riding in my car, I don't do a single one of them. I can accept taking a risk for myself but I won't do it knowingly to children.

Yes, I am. And I felt that way but life continues. Should I feel sorry and ask for forgiveness for not being a constant crybaby and seeking social validation on forums and social networks? I feel so sorry for him, he was my idol but Kobe would have wanted us all to move on and focus again on basketball ASAP. That's what I said and I say it again: RIP Kobe, and let's move on.

Ya but you're kind of doing that anyways by going into Kobe threads saying this stuff, to me that seems like you're seeking attention. I won't lie, you dont see me on the Kobe threads really because it hasn't effected me. I also dont care to talk or listen to people talk about because it hasn't effected me. But guess what, you dont see me going into Kobe threads saying stupid crap to get attention.

I could maybe get your point if every other thread here turned into a Kobe thread, but you are intentionally clicking and going on a Kobe dedicated thread. There are plenty of non Kobe threads to talk basketball on, is it really that hard to just not click on this thread to say this crap to a good amount of people who clearly feel different on this topic than you? It hasnt been hard for me to do that.

I expected this small gesture by default. Kobe's jersey's will be the only ones not covered up by "selfies" by the Clippers. Both number 8+24 will be visible for the rest of the season (and maybe for the future too I hope).

Damn that Celtics tribute for Kobe was equally great and horribly depressing.

Nobody born and raised in Los Angeles would post something like that.
