Bosh is a 2 time champion, Aldridge is not on that level.

I'm pretty sure Aldridge would have been champion as well with James and Wade.

Yes he should be in hall of fame.

Also, Bosh is not better than LMA

Cheers

He's a 7x All-Star and a 5x All-NBA. He's getting in, if not as a 1st-ballot.

I'm not. It's not like they won those championships easily.

Just checked his stats and I never noticed how good of a career he’s had. I think he’s in for sure.

As a Grizz fan, I've got a ton of respect for Aldridge because he has routinely lit up the Grizz throughout his entire career - he usually scores 15-20 points in the first quarter of every game against the Grizz. With that said, I don't think he's a HoF. His career numbers and accomplishments in the NBA alone don't get him there IMO (but maybe they put him on the bubble based on past admissions to the HoF), and he has no notable college or international accolades (of which I'm aware) to put him over the top.

Tell that to Mitch Richmond and Calvin Murphy, and neither of them played on two 60+ win teams like Aldridge has.

Aldridge has played in 7 allstar games, every single eligible player with 7 or more is in the HOF.

He will also pass 20000 points either later this season or early next season, only 2 eligible players with 20000+ points aren't in the HOF. If he passes 21000 points, all of those players are in the HOF.

Basically, it’s a slam dunk at this point. He’s a lock.

For sure he is with that many allnba and allstar years. Unless they Chris Webber him.

Pretty sure they elect players to the HOF and not teams since it’s an individual success award.

^

Webber is easily a HOFer based on his NBA career. 1 All-NBA 1st team, 3 2nd team, 1 3rd team, 5x in the MVP voting top 10...

Unfortunately his HOF candidacy really took a hit because of the University of Michigan basketball scandal.

Nah. He is in the hall of the very good players, not HOF material. To me the HOF should be only for the very best athletes of all-time.

While this right idea and I agree with where you draw the line, the basketball HOF already lowered the bar to the ‘hall of very good’ quite a long time ago. Aldridge has already had a better career than a fair percentage of the current HOF inductees, a level which he surpasses easily.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't think just playing a long time and having good career numbers as a result is enough to make the hall of fame. I realize the precedent has been set where getting in isn't too difficult, but it should be.

Aldridge has had a very nice career and might even be underrated, but I have never once watched him and thought "that's a hall of famer." Has he ever once been a top 10 player in the league? Top 15 even?

I don't know. There should be more exclusivity to get in. Aldridge to me has never been good enough or made enough of an impact. I consider a hall of famer to be a dominant force. He was not.

Aldridge was a better player if you needed a first or second option, but he wouldn't have fit as well as a third option on the heat. He certainly wouldn't have been able to replicate Bosh's defense or spacing on those Heat teams so I'm not sure they win either. He would've been a better go to 2nd option on nights Wade or Lebron were off though.

I feel Aldridge is better than Bosh as well, but fit matters. Particularly when the gap between players isn't that large which in this case I don't think it is.

I think his longevity statistically and being 5x All-NBA gets him in based on logical guesswork from prior precedent of HOF inductees. I would personally have a much stricter threshold for HOF induction, but that is not how it operates right now. The bar is what it is, and he gets in based on the actual standard being applied right now.

The question was if he'd get in. Not how you'd like to change the hall to fit your personal view of it.

For whatever it is worth their box metrics are almost identical from career WS/VORP to peak BPM, WS/48, PER. That said Bosh does seem to do better at his peak in the raptors in terms of RAPM. General eye test and I always felt Bosh was the slightly better player peak vs peak.

The league however certainly has valued Aldridge as the better guy with 5 all nba's vs 1, but bosh had more allstar seasons 11 vs 7. An interesting comp to say the least.
