Avery Bradley
Hi Laker fans, I was wondering how Avery Bradley has been playing for your team this season. I noticed he is starting and gets 23 minutes per game but he's shooting 26% from three. Is he good defensively at least? Was he a bad signing for 9 mil a year? Curious to hear your thoughts on him.

He's been great defensively
Yes he sucks at threes
He only earns 4.8 a year

Don't expect Bradley to be a rotational piece come playoff time.
He's not as good as a defender as people make him out to be and against elite teams, they can't live him in die to his spacing. Caruso plays better d without fouling than Bradley does.

Re: Avery Bradley
Bradley is our best defensive guard at the point. He's physical enough to disrupt and quick enough to stay in front of PG's. Caruso is far less effective against PG's. If we're talking about spacing or even getting an occasional bucket why is Caruso even in the discussion. 7 Dunks in 2 years and a few shots that go in in a month is about all we get from him offensively.

Again, who can bradley really guard that's worth guarding? Nobody. Maybe Steph curry because he's able to keep up with the track meet but against notable guards, he hasn't been able to guard not 1. In the playoffs, they're going to be bigger and physical guards that he won't be able to guard.

Unless we find something better we're stuck with him.

Re: Avery Bradley
Bradley's still our best perimeter defender, and he's actually been making some big 3s for us... I don't have a problem with him, but I've cooled a bit and would include him in a trade if the right deal came along.
We missed him when he was out.

Caruso should start over Bradley... He shoots better, plays better help defense, creates better and rebounds better... He also has length... AD is a bad fit for us...

Caruso has been bad offensively all year. This team is really thin at the SG position.

You won't miss him when playoffs come around and he has no gravity and he can't defend big guards.Kilroy wrote:Bradley's still our best perimeter defender, and he's actually been making some big 3s for us... He hasn't showed up in "big" games. Kuzma who isn't known as a defender had to guard Westbrook to slow him down.
Luka got a 30pt triple double the first meeting against the Lakers

Re: Avery Bradley
Caruso does well with what he has but he's a very limited player. He plays the passing lanes well and is decent against larger less athletic guards. I will say that he's better than Green defensively and not by a little bit but that has more to do with Green's decline. Offensively teams are just leaving him alone to clog the paint. He's not a great playmaker and in no way can he create his own shot. At the 2 position that's a pretty big deal.... and when he's backing of a guy who looks like a High School Junior handling the ball in Green we really have a very poor 2 guard rotation in comparison to a lot of teams we will have to play.
As for Bradley... he's the best guard we have. He's able to create a little, score on the move and plays very good defense... not sure how anyone can watch the games and say he's been poor or even average defensively at the point. He's taking guards out of their rhythm nightly with his physical play. Disrupting the timing at the PG level is a key to our entire defense.

Don't fall for the eyetest with Bradley. Just because he looks like he's hustling and bustling doesn't mean that he actually is.
He's not a factor with good teams. I'm not trying to disparage him when I say hes not good. How can he guard a Westbrook with his size and lack of speed? It's a tall order to ask. How can he guard a 6'7 Luka?
If you want to say he's better than Caruso or green then so be it but I'm not sure that's saying much for a championship contending team.
The reason they won against houston, they put kuz on Westbrook instead of Bradley. The reason they lost against the clippers, Bradley was in the game and it allowed the clippers to help off Bradley since he's a 23% pt shooter. Not to mention, he couldn't guard anyone worth guarding on the clippers. Kawhi switched on him, bucket.
Last night, he couldn't do anything to slow dame..lots of "show" effort but not real effort.

He's having a great game against sac though but as I said before, against anyone worth guarding and in the playoffs hes going to habe a hard time fulfilling that role and perhaps staying on the floor.
The major losses that the Lakers have had he was not on the floor much because they had to pull him off.
