Re: Would you board the #17 train to Brown Towns?

Post#341 » by Marcus_Shart » Sun Feb 2, 2020 1:01 am

It may not be now, but his value is dropping. This would be an offseason move not at the deadline. We'd have to throw in more I'm sure, but if we didn't have to include Tatum is what I'm getting at. Marcus is where I'd draw the line, and unfortunately he would probably be needed for salary matching so I'm just throwing shart at the wall here.

Can’t see how that package would even get us in the conversation for Towns mate.

I love Brown but any sane GM makes that trade in a heartbeat

He admitted that last year he should have addressed teams issues and didnt, and that it was a mistake.

Perhaps he will learn from himself, but I am sure that making bad draft choices with mediocre to bad draft picks is more exciting that putting together a complete team.

Jaylen Brown and a mid-lottery pick for a top-3 C locked up long term, who is improving every year, who would be the perfect C in a Brad Stevens offense? Yeah I think I'll make that trade. Celtics would be Finals favorites probably.

but the issue was not really talent based unless you count the talent with oversized egos to match. our problems stemmed from too many guys thinking they deserved to play a lot and play like a big dog instead of a chihuahua! we needed more guys who were ankle-biters who were fine with biting ankles but we had guys who were ankle biters but they thought they deserved a bite of the butt!

man, I took that too far!

Dropping sort of I guess..... Maybe?

It is a problem to have a Center that is below average on defense. That is something you really have to work around compared to any other position. You need defenders everywhere else to cover some of it up. It sucks having a center that can't defend. But I mean, you can figure out a way to make it manageable on another team.

On the other hand, he is probably what.... a top 5 offensive player? 27 and 11 on 51/41/81.......64.6 True Shooting

My Gawd. 41% from 3 on over 8 attempts a game. Holy crap. This dude is taking step back 3s and everything. He is unbelievable. A center doing that just makes it so much easier for everybody else.

So the mavs want MKC or rondae hollis jefferson... How about Semi and the Milwaukee pick for Dallas's pick.

Hopefully Bob Williams and maybe another deadline pick up soak up Semis minutes. At worst Green and G Williams.

Not happening. KAT is signed for five more years, he isn’t going anywhere. Also, do keep trade ideas in the trade thread.

Semi has been playing pretty well. He was head and shoulders above Hayward tonight. And Wanamaker had a great game. Maybe the Pistons can keep Rose.

Marcus_Shart wrote:I've recently seen some people discussing a trade of Towns for Brown and the Memphis pick which sits at 17 last I checked. Would you be down with the Celtics doing this? Would you have the heart to do this to Jaylen being we're not even sure if Towns has one? We are desperately thin at the big man spots, and Towns is elite offensively, but his lack of effort on D is also offensive. It makes sense fit wise as we are pretty stacked on the wing, but am I just falling victim to the old cliche "we can change him" fools gold like so many dumb bitches before me? Has Danny's resistance to draft anyone over 6'8 driven me insanely grasping at straws with the blinders turned up to 11?

By the time such a trade is possible, we'll have more information. And yes, I'm ducking discussion of impossible trades right now. :)

We just upgrade the first from milwaukees to dallas's and give up Semi.

I really like it, drop some salary and move up a few spots in the draft

This team can contend this year, I have no doubt. Keep Tatum, Brown, Walker together after this season. Try to extend Hayward on a cheaper deal or pick up the option. Get a defensive big man in the offseason via trade or free agency. We don’t need a big that can score much just defense. KAT doesn’t fit here and what has he won? Not trading Brown or Tatum.

Celtics need a consistent scorer off the bench if they want to make it far in the playoffs. Right between Smart and Kanter. A consistent wing scorer capable of 8-10 points nightly and every now and then a 20 point game.

Someone like Alec Burks, Bjelica, Davis Bertans etc.

I'm not advocating this, but with rumors of Detroit adding Kennard to a Drummond deal, it wouldnt surprise me if Hayward and a pick and/or young asset is dealt for Drummond and Kennard, with Hayward going to a 3rd team.

Kennard would give Boston a 40% 3 point shooter.

Gordon is going nowhere. You can forget about deals regarding the main 6-7 players in the team.
