I feel Aldridge is better than Bosh as well, but fit matters. Particularly when the gap between players isn't that large which in this case I don't think it is.
You're right. But I honestly fail to see how Bosh fit the Heat while Aldridge wouldn't, especially considering Bosh didn't exactly "flourish" in his role. It's not that high a bar for someone with Aldridge's talent.
FTR I don't really regard either one of them as that much better than the other. They're both similar enough and not polarizing enough that I don't care enough to rank them. If I had to draft one of them I'd pick a name out of a hat and be happy with the result either way
Bosh seems like he's better defending the perimeter, and had more mobility. Which was important in Miami's switch heavy defense. I could just be imagining this or it could just be recency bias seeing older Aldridge. I don't really follow either of their games much either.
Nah it's not recency bias on your part. Bosh was probably better than Aldridge would be in that area, but not really that impressive either. He just wasn't terrible for his size.
Considering the real linchpins of that defense were Lebron and Wade, I don't see Bosh's advantage to be that much, as Aldridge would be a bigger interior presence on both ends of the court than Bosh. Bosh's perimeter defensive advantage over Aldridge would be like Mo Harkless 3pt shooting advantage over Anthony Davis. Barely worth talking about in the grabd scheme of things. LMA would probably also stay healthier than Bosh did.
