I'm pretty unconcerned with Embiid. If anything, I'd prefer he sit a few games to get the finger in a good place. His value is going to be in the playoffs.

I'm concerned with everyone surrounding Ben and Embiid at this point.

Surprised with your take on this. I can't realistically see Embiid suddenly finding the athleticism and speed needed to be the defensive anchor he once was. Also don't see him figuring out how to negotiate doubles and defenses collapsing on him in crowds.

He's playing at an alarmingly low level and continues to trend downward... I can't buy into the idea that he'll rediscover his superstardom once the postseason gets here.

Don't we know by now Joel always has a tough time getting back into game action, after a longer period of rest?

Heck, he started the season pretty slow to only get into decent shape the last games before he broke his finger.

Surprised that I believe our 23 and 12 center will return back to form? I've re-learned my lesson this year: players are not defined by one game or even a stretch of games. Despite Ben's aversion to shooting from outside of 5 feet, he has shown the ability to be productive purely as a driver and getting to the line. That doesn't require the 4 out, Ben on the inside offense that we were all convinced would be necessary to maximize his ability.

So what's Embiid's flaws? For one, he's trying to recover from this finger situation. Clearly it's affecting him since he was 1 for 11 last night and has been struggling as a shooter recently. Additionally, he's out of shape. Other than that, he is currently the best center in the league. I don't see any conceivable reason to trade him right now. If we need to sit him to get his finger right and put him on a diet/cardio to get his wind back, then I'm fine with keeping him out for a bit. He's pretty untouchable right now to me.

The real issue is figuring out what to do with Tobias, who lacks any discernible game changing ability, and Al Horford, who is currently a nice bench vet. They are handcuffing us for the foreseeable future, financially.

He’s had dominant games against smaller centers Hawks, Dallas, Miami, Boston earlier in the year. He owns the lopez brothers.

It’s not a downward spiral as much as he’s either out of shape or still hurt. He always owns theis. Theis has zero chance against him. Embiid isn’t backing guys down since he came back. A lot of is he can’t dribble with off hand/left finger that’s still wrapped. Now a big man like
Embiid should even need to dribble. Just established low post deep, seal your man . Sixers should thrown him the ball.

Part of the blame also goes on Sixers perimeter players not even bothering to feed him the ball deep. Embiid gets frustrated. So gets the ball mid post. Which is dumb. Why should your 7 footer get the ball at the free throw line.

Part of is coaching. A lot of blame is Embiid. But a lot blame goes to perimeter players. As Brett brown says. Teams at baiting the Sixers. They are sending a lot of help defenders mid way to Embiid (last night was Jaylen brown a lot) helping out. Embiid frustrate. Than he starts jacking up 3 point shots.

First quarter Embiid takes 7 free throws. But 2 the first of
The game. That shows sometimes. He could get to
The line anytime he wanted to in the first quarter. He’s too big for Boston. Than the frustration hits as Sixers getting down more and more. Than Embiid lack of effort.

To me, he looks like a drunk toddler anytime he puts it on the floor in the post. This goes way back beyond pre-hand injury.

Can't underplay the fact that he's constantly out of shape. At some point, the guy is just an a**hole with no self control for the betterment of the team.

His impact defensively this season has been unrecognizable. He's no longer deterring anyone. Several C's couldn't wait to try him last night.

I feel like he is pissed off but he doesnt have the balls to say what is really on his mind namely he is tired of Ben not taking jump shots and furious that the orginization let Redick and Butler go and didnt replace them with better offensive players then Horford and Richardson. So its passive agressive bs from him like bad body language, cryptic comments, and not playing hard at times. This is not good right now. These next two games could be interesting they go as bad as they could there could be some fireworks.

Joel these past two games has been giving absolutely no effort. Which In Philly is unacceptable. He hasn’t been playing good defense which is concerning, but the main issue is his lack of trying. He has been giving no effort to lose balls or team defense and he sucks when he plays like this, he is complete garbage when he doesn’t try. Reminds me of the Chris Webber days but at least he gave effort he was just old. Joel needs to improve his effort or we will be in trouble.

I have said in the past that Sixers chance to win the title hinges on Simmons becoming a more dominant scorer. But this shouldnt be to the detriment of Embiid. Simmons can do his thing in the transition but in the half court Embiid should be allowed to play his game also and not camp the 3 point line. It is a hard task (if not impossible) but that is the winning condition for the Sixers and is the necessary condition to avoid a team implosion and for Brett to avoid getting fired.

Horford and Harris might be collateral damage here but they should spend most of their time spacing the floor. if they are unhappy with that they should be traded ( i would try to trade them anyway). At the moment what the SIxers are doing is quite irrational. They move their best player out of his comfort zone, because they think he is more versatile, to accommodate lesser players. This has never worked in the history of the nba and is a one way street to team implosion.

LoL Joel is a turnover machine when he is allowed to "play his game" and he plays with no heart. If he feels unhappy that's fine do everyones a favor and required a trade. We won't win anything under his belt anyway.

Embiid is pretty much finished. When he went back to Toronto for the first time after leaving there crying after a game seven and scored zero points, that told me all I needed to know about him. He's done.

Well he's had plenty of opportunity to show up this season that is for sure.

How many dominant games have we seen from Joel this season? You could count them on 1 hand.

If they have any doubts on Embiid they have to cash him in now. He is worth plenty now but if keeps missing time that wont last.

If he is finished, like the guys above say, you are not gonna get much.

You are going to get a lot only if he is healthy at which point there is no point in trading him.

He’s not finished at all

Brown basically called him out on his attitude during the game yesterday

Will be interesting to see how he responds

Even if it is not physical it is not an easy problem to solve because it feels like Brown has lost the locker room.

Brown also called Simmons out but nothing happened so i doubt much will happen now although Embiid seems a bit more coachable.

If Brown cant find a way to have both of them play to their strengths his days are numbered and the Sixers will have to make significant trades soon, maybe as soon as this summer.

Funny Brown called been out to shoot threes, not sure where happened there. I don't think it's fair to call Embiid out and hold him accountable, and keep letting Simmons slide. Embiid has been balling since he came in the league. Simmons had been playing like this for a month.
