It's hard to get rid of the twitches caused by Ernie. I think our GM is too smart to make that trade. Besides, the analytics division of the front office will have a cow. So, not happening.

What about a core Wall, Beal, Love, Drummond ??

Esshhh... For the life of me I cant understand why some of you'll want to make these trades. Overpaid, overrated, dinosaurs that will cap us out and make us a 5th seed...No thanks.

The plans should be simple. Evaluate the Wall/Beal backcourt next year, develop Brown, Rui, Bryant, etc., hit on a top 10 pick this year...
Thats it.

Assuming all of those things end of in a positive direction, then we will be a 45-50 team and re-evaluate the possible addition of a another mid 20's vet using some combination of picks and young players... But we are at least 1, if not two trade deadlines from that kinda move.

You people are overestimating the level of impatience of Beal. He wants to win, but he's not an idiot. He knows this season is a throwaway. Even if we make the playoffs, who cares? We're not beating Milwaukee.

Sheppard can just sit him down and say we're not effing trading a future pick for a 30-game rental of Tristan Thompson just so we can win an extra 2 games this season.

I could see us trading Mahinmi straight up for Thompson (and thereby saving Cleveland $3M), but we're not giving up picks.

I whole ass agree. I think that report is probably what cleavland wants from the wiz not what we are offering. I would rather get into the capella talks anyway. But I feel like unless we move Bertains we can really get into those. Still interested to see if we move Ian , Jordan or IT?

If we got Capela, what would we need to do to make the money work out?

Absolutely not. Not even remotely interesting.

Harris is a solid player, but he's a negative asset at his salary. We're not giving you Bertans and Troy Brown Jr. for him.

Basically trade bertains and move Ian to a third team, or move ish and bertains. Or move Ian and toss assets at Huston for Capella. And Ian goes to a third team and the third team provides smaller expendable contracts.

No chance they’ll take on that Harris contract, not even straight up for John Wall.

And Wash just drafted a player in the top 10 who plays the same position/game as Harris, makes no sense to roadblock Hachimura with a veteran who’s plateaued.

Ian & a second round pick for Thompson? Why not?

Everyone freaks out about giving up a second round pick, but we already have 5-6 first and second year players to develop with at least one more coming on board with the 2020 draft. Not to mention Sanon stashed away overseas. Plus there's always a good chance you can buy a second round pick.

I'm tired of teams outrebounding the Zards and getting easy buckets at the rim. Thompson would help address that. I'd make that trade, especially if I thought I could resign Tristan at a reasonable salary.

How does trading for Thompson make any sense whatsoever for the Wiz? He's making 18.5 mil this season, so obviously it would take a lot to re-sign him. He's 28, so this is his last shot for a big contract. And look at the player he is - he's primarily a center in today's NBA. We have 2 much younger centers who will probably be better than him next season. He's not a rim protector at 6'9 with 1 block a game. He's just a solid workman-like player who rebounds well. Smart teams don't take on players like him in their prime earning years. We're seriously going to try to get the 8th seed with him? Seriously? Not smart.

I cant see how this is a good thing, He will get the rebounds, but he is not the rim protector or defensive stopper we need. Surely there are better attainable players.

Need the D.

Can we please improve the defence. Somehow. However it needs to be done. It is embarrassing how bad this team defends.

Despite hearing his name surface as a trade target for various teams, the 6’10” forward has enjoyed life off the court in Washington and would like to remain there. “It’s a great city,” Bertans told Bleacher Report. “I love that there’s some history. It’s an international city, and at the same time, my wife enjoys it. We’re living downtown. There are a lot of places you can just walk, and you don’t have to drive anywhere. Having a little bit more of a similar feel to how it is back home for us in Latvia because we also live in the capital city downtown and have the opportunity to walk downtown and not be stuck in the car for a half-hour going somewhere.” – via Michael Scotto @ Bleacher Report

What about Covington ? Just turned 29, has 2 years left on deal UFA 2022. All-NBA Defensive First Team - 2018

Would Towns still be happy if Covington was one of the players the front office felt like it had to deal? “I think it’s very obvious he’s my best friend on the team, so it would be very difficult if something like that was going to happen,” Towns said. “But like with Zach LaVine, this is a business. So like I said, I’m the one who just plays the game. I don’t get paid to make rosters and stuff like that. That’s why we have [Rosas] and them.” – via Minneapolis Star-Tribune

The Minnesota Timberwolves have remained engaged in trade talks centered on Robert Covington.
The Mavericks and Rockets discussed trades with Minnesota dating back to the offseason. The Mavericks can offer a 2020 second round pick from the Golden State Warriors, which will be one of the first selections in the second round.
Covington has two seasons and $25 million remaining on his contract.
"Robert Covington is a player I'm very confident they are going to trade at some point this week," said Adrian Wojnarowski on his podcast on Sunday.
